siouxfan512 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 this one? FYI I did vote Rough riders.I know this will not be the logo, but I actually like that logo, better than the one that was originally put out there. The green bird actually does not look terrible, and it looks like the logo was slightly altered from the original one that was posted all of the forums. The logos on the right are not too bad either.Go Sioux! Quote
siouxfan512 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 It will be interesting to see if the hockey team actually puts a new logo on their jerseys, or if they push back and opt to keep the current jersey. Not sure how much say the staff has in the matter, but I'm sure they will have an opinion. Personally, I think they could come up with a combination of jerseys. Maybe some have the logo, maybe some don't. I guess we'll see. Quote

Milford torgerson Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Why is one wing curved? That's so it'll fly in circles very efficiently Quote
fight on sioux Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I've heard that the team has already ordered the current jerseys for next year so it won't contain the logo next year. Quote
Cratter Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I've heard that the team has already ordered the current jerseys for next year so it won't contain the logo next year.Considering the new logo won't be revealed til next summer, I wonder if any will have the new logo.I don't know the lead time for jerseys though. jdub27 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I've heard that the team has already ordered the current jerseys for next year so it won't contain the logo next year.UND ATHLETICS: Changes will be gradual with new nicknameIt could be a while before the name appears on jerseys, though. It will largely depend on how long it takes for the school to get a new logo. The UND men’s hockey team won’t have any references to the new nickname on its uniforms next season, because jerseys have already been ordered. Other fall and winter sports teams are likely to order their jerseys before midsummer 2016, the target date to adopt a new logo.UND will allow licensing opportunities for the use of Fighting Hawks along or with the interlocking ND logo, but not with any other graphic representation. So, it may not be long until merchandise is available. Quote
tnt Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 this one? FYI I did vote Rough riders.Would like to see a secondary logo with the wings on the right incorporated into Hawks as the "W". I think they want a few different logos, so that could go on t-shirts and the main logo on jerseys. Quote
keikla Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 A bird with feathers? No issue.A hawk in a Native headdress? DOA.Agreed. A bird with feathers isn't an issue. A bird with feathers that remind the NCAA of Native American headdresses? Nope. Quote
CMSioux Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Actually does the NCAA have to sign off on logos? Next thing we are going to hear is that the Native American Cultural Center wants to have a say in the design of the new logo. WRONG: Now that the logo has nothing to do with Native Americans they have no more right to be at the table than the Norwegian students or the Chinese students. 4 Quote

Technically, they may not have to sign off on the logo. But I still wouldn't put it past them to try and pull more sanctions if they don't approve. Quote
Siouxperfan7 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 It wiIll be interesting to see what direction they go with the logo. But remember, the NCAA thought these feathers were offensive!! 1 Quote
sioux7>5 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 OK so I am trying to get caught up on everything here, I realize that the new nickname is effective immediately but when will they decide on a logo? I either did not hear it or it got lost in the shuffle of everything. Thanks Quote

Wildfan Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 If they are going to go generic if they go the bird route I rather they go the plane route. The navy used to use a Douglas A-4 Skyhawk: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_A-4_Skyhawk#United_StatesThe Argentine variant was the Fighting Hawk: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_Martin_A-4AR_FightinghawkThe US Lockheeed F-117 Nighthawk: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_F-117_NighthawkCurtiss P-40 Warhawk: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtiss_P-40_WarhawkThen there is also the Desert Hawk which is a Drone (which doesn't look as cool, but does match our UAS program)Or Blackhawk which is a military helicopter.
