Apparently not only is being one game over .500 worthy of a playoff bid, it is also good enough to get coach of the year honors in the MVFC.  I am really not understanding all the love for Western Illinois.

Hey if you can get a 6-5 team in the playoffs He should be coach of year.  Not that his team deserves it.

Thats a good point...

WIU has had two playoff appearances in the last 15 years, so I guess they have that "name recognition" that probably swayed the committee as well like Montana and Northern Iowa have.  Being 83-90 since the turn of the century has really built up their brand and reputation.

Nielson is a pretty good coach. Kind of Ironic that his team is one of the 4 teams that gets in at our expense seeing as how Bubba handed him 2 national titles at UMD.....guess he really owes Bubba a couple favors now.

Seriously? Well I guess any time you can take a team from 5-7 to 6-5 and have a point differential of -59 points on the year (including -36 in conference play), you need to take a moment and recognize greatness.

Kind of scary that Dale is out of work and South Dakota and Montana State have open slots.

He was offered the Montana St. job once before. In retrospect, that probably would have been a better fit for him geographically.
