"He said the substance in question was mixed into a drink and taken before practice or a game to help energize his body."

I would suggest you read that article very carefully and take off the UND colored glasses. All the information is there except what the stimulant was. Fact is according to the player all he took was the supplement.  Caffeine is considered a stimulant.      You still believe him dont you???

What's the limit at ndsu on getting busted failing internal tests? It's at least a few before there is any missed game time. But when the media doesn't ask follow up questions on those "violation of team rules" punishment, I guess we'll never know.

Dont you guys have cracker jack reporters? Tell them to get on it.

He’s also quoted as saying he had no idea he was taking an illegal substance, and it was supplied by a trusted staff member, and used throughout the locker room.

When youre tired do you say, I need a cup of illegal substance to wake me up?   Or, I could sure use a can of stimulant so I don’t fall asleep at work?

yet you guys think it was caffeine...  lol

Perhaps you should read it carefully and focus on the parts where it is called an illegal supplement.

An Ndsu All American said an illegal supplement was widely used. She didn't say banned supplement, she said illegal. As did her son.

He is also quoted as say he didnt know what he was taking.  He also said this--- Robbins said he wants people to know he did not intentionally take an illegal supplement.  Supplement and substance are two different things. So again we have narrowed it down to the supplement. Caffeine as mentioned before is not illegal or banned. Only in high levels is it considered unlawful according to the NCAA.

Just because shes an all american doesnt mean she knows what she is talking about.  She was upset and right fully so. It was her son.

The supplement is not illegal.  Taking too much of the supplement may cause a positive on a drug screen. Plus as posted previously by a UND fan drinking too many MT Dews may  also cause a positive drug screen. You can make fun of that fact all you want but its true. And yes its stupid but thats the NCAA for you.

For a guy who likes to chastise those holding onto the Fighting Sioux nickname, you sure love to re-tell the stories about the golden days of yore of the 1990's and early 2000's when it comes to UND football...

Surprisingly it is a similar time frame as the last hockey National Championship we won as the Fighting Sioux.  The year 2000.

If he didn’t know what he was taking, how can you assume it was an illegal supplement?

And 2001 when UND football won the only National Title with the BB Sioux logo. So for historical accuracy the only BB National Title banner that should be hung should be in the Alerus Center not the REA.

Let's cut BIson players some slack, shall we?  Most of them aren't intelligent enough to remember that they like their morning breakfast eggs served "sunny-side up," yet we're expecting them to know what illegal substances/supplements are?  Give 'em a break, I say!

I'm not assuming that. You are.

True.

At the team breakfast instead of saying “more Ovaltine please!”,  they say “ More Ostarine please!!”

Bison 73 you leave mama and her son alone.... she obviously raised him right and has the “gonadal fortitude” to publicly put things right.

In my mind,  your coaching staff, AD, and  administration will never crawl out of this hole. I read what the UND coaches said after the 3 former players got caught. They stood tall with former players.... you didn’t with a current one.

still waiting for Juice U to publicly make a credible statement.... end of story!

I may get kicked off this (or lock this down) but DO NOT blame the player or mama....

From Article 1 - Part of North Dakota State and Alabama's programs, Newman entered this past season working for the two reigning national champions of the FCS and FBS, respectively. The Bison entered the season having won six of the last seven FCS titles, while the Crimson Tide had won five of the last nine at the FBS level. Both made it to their title games again with undefeated records.  North Dakota State, with Newman on its sidelines, went on to win its seventh title in eight years. Alabama, however, fell in a lopsided game against Clemson.

From Article 2 - Clemson athletic department managers immediately started asking questions in-house after three football players tested positive for the performance-enhancing drug ostarine just before the Cotton Bowl.

From Article 3- Recently, Ben joined Clemson Head Football Coach Dabo Swinney to kickoff Jon Gordon’s Power of Positive Summit that included Tony Robbins, Michael Hyatt, Lewis Howes, Tamika Catchings, Andy Andrews and other great speakers from around the world. Ben also serves as the Performance Coach for the record setting 5-straight Division I National Football Champion North Dakota State Bison.

Alabama - Ben Newman      NDSU - Ben Newman      Clemson - Ben Newman (I'm sure Sabin is pissed about this one)

It's pretty easy to connect the dots.  Has anyone else noticed that Clemson couldn't hang with the big boys then Ben Newman shows up.  Sure, you have to put up with his speeches and raw raw bull crap but the guy has the goods, that's for sure.  Clemson has gone so far to say it was food tampering by a 3rd party!!  At NDSU, one article and barely a follow-up.  No one serves up Ben, I guess he's that good.

I read the article very closely as you suggested. Two quotes calling it an Illegal supplement. Zero quotes  calling it a banned supplement.  That's a big difference. Fact is, according to the player all he took was something illegal.

Caffeine is not considered unlawful by the NCAA. It is banned but not against the law.

The player and parent both said it was illegal. You can deny that fact all you want but it's true.
