scpa0305 Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 I seem to remember several times when UND needed late goals or overtime to beat Bemidji State and Air Force where there were pile ons. A win is a win, and if they can't get excited, that is where I would be concerned. Bingo. Let's not hate. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 But where is the tree nut free allergy zone? Already answered ... Looks like Home Benches are on the far side ... Quote

GFG Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Dean Blais is proposing a "standard ice surface" in college hockey. http://www.sctimes.com/story/sports/college/hockey/husky-hockey/2015/12/03/hatten-column-blais-propose-same-sized-rinks/76642764/?from=global&sessionKey=&autologin=This is nothing new at all with Dean. IIRC he was one of the biggest advocates of moving away from campus sites due to the different ice sizes. After UND lost to Ferris State 5-2 in the west regional at Mariucci in 2003 there was a story in the Grand Forks Herald with a lot of strongly worded quotes from Blais being extremely PO'd that they had to play an NCAA tournament game on Olympic size ice. I wish I could find the article... Quote

InHeavenThereIsNoBeer Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Looks like Home Benches are on the far side and there are no penalty boxes on the close side.Wait, so Baxter willingly put the benches on either side of the rink? Ugh, that looks so weird to me. I thought that was only something old arenas like Compton Ice in South Bend had. Quote

farce poobah Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 (edited) Its time to change the rules on rink setup.I propose the following amendment to Rule 1, Section 10 "Penalty Bench". http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/rules/fielddiagrams/IceHockey.pdfSpecifically, to add a subsection c: "In the event the Team Benches are not equally distant from the Penalty Benches, the Visiting Team shall have the choice of which Team Bench they choose to use. In the event the Team Benches are equally distant from the Penalty Benches, the Home Team shall have the choice of which Team Bench they choose to use.Rationale: to prevent home teams from gaining an unfair competitive advantage by situating their own bench much closer to the penalty box. Its unfair, and should be eliminated from the game. Edited December 10, 2015 by farce poobah 1 Quote

nodak651 Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 We should move our away penalty box to the other side of the blue line. That way when the away team penalty expires the player will be offsides. Pretty much the same logic Omaha uses. Quote
burd Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 For the regular season anyway, they could also alternate benches Fri/Sat if the setup is not fair. Wouldn't help in any single game, but it would be easy to implement for series. Quote

keikla Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I'm sure UND fans would put up better numbers, but we're also aided by having a Fri/Sat game schedule. Quote

Popular Post snova4 Posted December 11, 2015 Popular Post Posted December 11, 2015 It's just a weak argument at best. We're supposed to believe these kids aren't going to have success against someone that's three or four years older in college whose skill level isn't as high as there's, but then they are going to be able to go into the NHL and all of a sudden an age gap isn't an issue? B.S. These big name schools are just p*ssed that the small schools are able to compete. 6 Quote

Godsmack Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 I got a hall pass from the Mrs. so heading to the DU-SCSU game tonight. I will grudgingly be pulling for DU to win as UND is in a dog fight with the Huskies for first place. Man, this is almost the most difficult thing I've had to do, I can't stand either team! I think I'll need to take a shower when I get home! 4 Quote
