The University of North Dakota Athletics High Performance Facility will officially be ready for use next week....

....Phase two of fundraising for the facility amounts to about $15 million, which will cover office space, training rooms, lockers and sports medicine. The North Dakota Legislature will meet this fall and address the project’s approval, Magill said.

Sounds pretty confident that construction will begin soon on Phase II, if they are looking at bringing to the legislature for approval.

Haha Bisonville would be so pissed if we got public funding for this....

The schools are supposed to get legislative approval regardless of whether it's funded with public funds or donations.  I believe it's been avoided in certain cases by having a foundation finance and control the project "without university involvement."

The Legislature needs to approve new facilities of any sort because even if it is built with private funds it'll be owned and maintained by the University and as such, a new ongoing State expense.

I can't imagine the legislature saying no since they (UND) are producing all the funds.

Track was scheduled to be completed before they moved in but there is some sort of issue with moisture in the concrete and they are trying to find the best way to make sure the track can be installed properly and without issues in the future.

Did they let it bleed out for at least 28 days?  It is covered with a roof and no sun, therefore, its going to take longer to bleed out and cure.

No clue on the details, just what I heard about why the track wasn't in yet.  A lot of that concrete has been down for a few months now.  Glad they are making sure it is being done right instead of rushing it though, it is going to be a really, really nice track.

As someone who run the awfulness that is the Hsylop track, it's going to be a good deal for the shins of the track team. I imagine they will be able to benefit from running 200's indoors without having to take 3 turns and barreling into a propped up high jump mat.

1.  Man that interlocking ND would look good at the Alerus.

2.  Hopefully they still plan on doing something with the lower section of the wall that is currently bare concrete.  It all looks great other than that.  Throw some stain on there or something.

Looks like in addition to not having enough money in this phase for the spectator seating but also the elevated cat walk that was in the original plans.

Interesting. I brought this subject up before and was told funding wasn't a problem?
