Siouxperman8 Posted yesterday at 04:05 AM Posted yesterday at 04:05 AM In my opinion a number of things about Danny leaving and his return are true at the same time. The fact that he left wasn't a huge deal to me but where he went and the position he left for says a lot. Danny 'bleeds green' but left for a lower position at a rival school and took a player or two with him. Looked to me like he was pouting cuz Bubba wasn't retiring fast enough. His offense at Wash St didn't have a great year and he wasn't offered to move with HC to Iowa St. He will be an improvement over our last OC. Quote
Hawkster Posted yesterday at 04:44 AM Posted yesterday at 04:44 AM I'm reserving judgment, overall I always like Danny and we know he's a Hawk through and through, but I also keep thinking "inbred". I hope he proves me wrong. Quote
Wilbur Posted yesterday at 05:01 AM Author Posted yesterday at 05:01 AM I'll reserve judgement until Danny lifts his chin up and looks down his nose at the room while talking about his experience calling plays in the Pac 12. Quote

I think it needs to be cleared up that at least one of the players "he took" transferred because UND did not have the major he wanted. There is life after football 1 Quote

There is life after football Not 100% sure that's true. I got to know his family a bit during his time at UND and didn't hear any rumblings of that. They were fully on board with him and UND football. It sounded like he was also considering coming back for last season which doesn't make sense if it was for a different major. I do think it had more to do with the old OL coach leaving vs. Danny but he did follow Danny. Quote
Popular Post AJS Posted 17 hours ago Popular Post Posted 17 hours ago This program just caught in incredible break the last two weeks. Let's pump it up! I'm actually surprised that anyone would hold a grudge against a coach that left at the end of the Bubba tenure. That was a sinking ship. I look at these two ways, not only is Freund a step up as an OC, but with how poorly the 2nd half went last year, I don't know how the Freuchte / Kaminksi era could have been revived. Multiple factors, not all Freuchte's fault, but this is a hard reset for Jerry and the offense. The outlook for next year is different today than it was two weeks ago. 15 Quote

Interesting that there will be 3 QBs on the roster from Wisc in addition to the fellow Schmidt brought in from Cal. Should be fun to sort that out the next few years. Hopefully there's some real talent there. Seems good QBs in the MVFC are in abundance lately. Quote

I hope that Sulik and the new recruit are good enough to press Jerry hard. Not too crazy about JTJ, as it appears that he lacks in the passing department from the few samples that we have. Quote
GoHawks Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago QB's on Roster Jerry K, JTJ, Jack Sulik, Brooks Hendrickson Possibly Pearce Parks? Quote

Freund left because of Bubba, plain and simple. Freund’s offenses were not the problem at UND when he left- it was the team culture and defense, both deficiencies largely attributable to Bubba. Kaminski needed new coaching after the end of 2025. It’s a win-win. We get a replacement for Fruechte in Freund, who was calling plays in the FBS last season for a winning football team. Excited to see what Freund has learned from South Dakota State and Washington State; there is no such thing as staying the same, you either get better or worse. My bet is Freund comes back to UND much better, certainly not worse. This is a no-brainer successful hire. UND fans should be ecstatic; it’s national championship or bust right now - and that’s incredible. I’m all in. You all should be too. 5 Quote

The Sicatoka Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Schmidt's time with DeBoer and Freund's time with Rodgers is good in that they've now seen how winners (contrary to 'good enough-ers') operate. 2 1 Quote
Siouxperman8 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Reading FBS coaches just voted unanimously to extend number of games played from 4 to 9 and keep redshirt. Not sure if applies to FCS if it passes. Quote

The FCS teams will spend two years developing the player and then he'll bolt and have three years at an FBS school. Quote
