Yeah I agree game experience is valuable. Note the LIU game is in Brookville, NY on Long Island not Brooklyn. Plan any travel out there ahead of time. It can take 1-2 hours depending on your mode of transportation.
Reasonable comment, but I think the talent they face in practice is probably better than 90% of the kids on LIU and Valpo. Traveling to Long Island can be difficult.
Yeah, I think a gravel road that is now 42nd street that we took over the tracks in the 50s as a kid. I think it was even before the golf course was built. Car was probably later. I think I first played RR in 68 or 69, but don't recall going that way after HS. You must have lived in the S end.
Yes, used to get home that way from the "old" GF Chiefs ballpark when we lived near University Park. It was easier to go west and around than to try to go thru the underpass near the roundhouse to get to University Ave. Fun times. Don’t remember the car though. Different time I guess. 1950s.
The guy is 61 yo. Too young to fully retire and probably not financially set enough to live the way he's used to. Throw in the boredom factor and it's not surprising he'd take a decent job somewhere in hockey with hope for something more later . The biggest issue in retirement is often not financial, it's staying busy and doing something rewarding. I wish him well.
I agree!! Very nice addition and facility. As someone who learned to play golf on RR in 1968 during my Junior year at UND I cannot believe the progress! Great for UND.
