I think it would be fine to bring in a quarterback to compete with Jerry, but I feel like the odds of a new OC/QB coach fixing whatever was wrong with him in the second half of the season are much higher than finding a clearly better quarterback in the portal. I fully expect that Jerry will be the starter, and Sulik the likely backup.

I did a little checking on transfer quarterbacks UND has brought in over the years. The rosters on the UND athletics only go back to 2003, but since that time I counted nine QB transfers. Braden Hanson obviously worked out in the one season he was here. Nate Ketteringham had his moments. The rest played either sparingly, or not at all, and generally only lasted a season or two on the roster before transferring out.

Joey Bradley, often called "Joey Swag," is a well-traveled American football quarterback known for his successful career playing professionally in Europe, winning championships in Portugal with the Lisboa Devils and later playing in Poland (Gdynia Seahawks) and Finland (Kuopio Steelers), after a notable college career at the University of North Dakota and University of New Haven where he was an Harlon Hill nominee.
Key Highlights:
  • College Career: Played at the University of North Dakota (UND) and University of New Haven (UNH), earning All-State honors in junior college and being a Harlon Hill candidate at UNH.
  • European Success: Led the Lisboa Devils to back-to-back Portuguese titles, then played for the Gdynia Seahawks in Poland and the Kuopio Steelers in Finland, winning another championship.
  • Nickname: "Joey Swag" reflects his confident style and popularity, especially within his fan base.
  • Current/Recent Status: After success in Finland, he continued playing and coaching, with recent posts showing him coaching and playing in Europe.
Why "Swag"?
His nickname comes from his flair for the game, successful runs in Europe, and positive influence, making him a popular figure in the growing European football scene.

Which is why my preference is to spend on guys we know.

I see both points but tend to lean on this side of things.

IMO it's rewarding commitment in some manner (because nowadays the word commitment doesn't mean squat).

The swag man had a pod cast not to long ago ripping us back

Fortunately nobody actually listened to it aside from about a dozen people in Finland, Portugal and Poland.
