Kab Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I’m not sure why a player has to get close to the line when they are supposed to be off the line. what advantage is there to be 1 foot closer to the line 1 Quote

Players have to know better Quote

Coaching staff need a lot of work on game/clock management. Take the damn field goals and run the ball with the lead late when it's working. And putting the freshman DB on an island late wasn't the brightest move by rhe staff. 2 Quote

Brim006 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Did I expect Schmidt to turn things around with only a spring camp and fall camp? No Did I expect we’d at least get the most out of the roster that he inherited and finally get rid of the numerous pee wee football level coaching mistakes? Yes Unfortunately it’s pretty clear the same loser culture is still lingering if not fully alive within the UND football program. I’ll continue to watch and follow as this season goes on but man did I lose confidence in this turnaround seeing the same old short falls we’re all too familiar with. And scary enough, I think what we saw yesterday was just as bad if not worse than the entire bubba era, with Rudy OC in a close 2nd. Bone head player mistakes are one thing but not recognizing the kicker issue last spring, not having even an ounce of 2 min drill abilities in 2/3 games already and the offense play calling is absurdly poor and embarrassing. That’s on the coaches. They’re showing so far they’re just trying not to lose still, and it’s backfiring as usual. Quote

However, I believe a Bubba led team would likely have been blown out in a road game in that environment, regardless of how good or bad Montana is. Quote

Popular Post UND-FB-FAN Posted 2 hours ago Author Popular Post Posted 2 hours ago It’s a new day. Be positive, but no moral victories. Need to stay hungry. The two losses this season hurt. But if someone told you preseason that UND would be 1-2 at this point in the season, nearly everyone would have agreed with that. However, if someone would have said UND would have lost both its games by a combined 4 points in games at Kansas State and at Montana, I think most would have been pleasantly surprised. However, would love to be 3-0 since so close … This team is ahead of schedule, but it must capitalize on the important lessons being taught here in week 1 and week 3. This team must now develop a killer instinct. It must develop into a winner. They clearly have the coaching and confidence to compete with anyone, anywhere; but need to finish games now. I suspect they will go on a major win streak now. This program is on the uptrend. Contribute to the NIL opportunities (internal and external) and show up to games. Next up is 9/20 versus Valparaiso (Homecoming/Hall of Fame Game). Go Hawks. we’ve got everyone right where we want ‘em…. 2 5 Quote

There is no guarantee that you can complete a spike with only 3 seconds left I am not sure what the truth is. I have seen multiple places that there was a rule change in 2013 that changed it so if under 3 seconds the spike runs out the clock - I think to take it out of the clock operators hands. NCAA Rule for Spiking the Ball Minimum time: Three seconds must be on the clock. Clock management: A legal spike stops the clock. Under three seconds: If there are fewer than three seconds on the clock, a spike is not a legal way to stop the clock. Instead, it's a normal play, and the clock will run out. 1 Quote

Didn’t seem to easily find the underneath, middle of the field receivers or blew their doors off with high fastballs. Better with the long ball. Too bad he didn’t get meaningful reps last year. He’d be so much farther ahead. Also need to see more Ziebarth. Especially when trying to run out the game. Do we all start a Zeibarth chant to get the damn point across? Hopefully they are reading this. Jerry is coming along nicely. He may need some exposure to these things to learn from mistakes. He hasn’t touched the field in how long? I agree with everything you are saying though. 2 Quote

Not that big of a deal. The other two backs (Siedl, Leigh) are just as good. They all three deserve touches. Quote

Not even close. Seidl is tiny. He may have a few good bursts, but not consistent. Leigh has not done much. it really is that big of a deal when we lose the game because they are not running the clock down and pounding it up the middle. 1 Quote

Seidl is tiny … yeah, okay, have you seen his burst? Apparently not? He’s been most productive. Leigh has been good but needs to settle in a bit. Z is a good ball carrier no doubt. All three are capable backs, but the offensive line needs to play better also. It is very close… 1 Quote
