I am surprised by all the ripping on Schloss he is the best writer in all of college hockey.  I am surprised he doesn't go to the athletic and work as a national college reporter.  Ì think those on this forum also need to take a deep breath and let schloss process this just like everyone else has to.  Can't wait to see who the new coach is , and i personally hope whoever we hire becomes a key contact of Schloss's on day one

Considering how very slanted this is towards BB, whose wife probably couldn't write a more syrupy love poem than this article, I would question how much of this is truth & how much of it is trying to make the athletic department look bad.

From his article, or hit piece:

"Opposing teams have been trying to recruit some UND players to hit the transfer portal since late January."

Ok, if that's the truth, then why didn't he report on this in January? And if this actually has been happening, giving Schlossman the benefit of the doubt, then it's safe to say that no players are safe on any team. Not just UND.

The UND hockey program needs its main journalist to be its biggest cheerleader now so that the transition can be as smooth as possible, not writing how doom & gloom it is & scaring away players. By acting like this he's pouring fuel on the fire to any player who may be on the fence. You're doing the program no favors now, Schlossman, time to get over your little bro-mance & get back to supporting the team in these critical hours.

It is generally pretty hard to get players to flip if the program is running smoothly.  The fact that programs noticed big cracks in the program where they could get someone to jump ship is just another indictment on the regime.  Thanks for making the argument for regime change Brad.  I will add, why wasn't Alex Bump on everyones hit list, as that guy has it all.  Could it be that Western has created a culture that attract players?

Coming here first and then reading his follow up, it definitely isn't melting down as it was described in this thread. He makes his usual selectively truthful statements, but also puts the heat on Chaves, who needs to be scrutinized as much as Berry was until yesterday.

Chaves should be scrutinized for bad coaching performances, not for firing under performing coaches. Chaves should also be held liable for holding on to these coaches too long.

Berry dig his own grave, no many have been impressed with his tenure outside of the herald press room……

If you read between the lines Schloss had been alluding to the fact of the "tampering" for some time.

but I think your right about him not naming names due to others teams being able to name UND...

say what do y'all think those other teams where using to lure our players????? 🤔

who knows probably not a big deal.

Yeah, thinking about it, he was probably saving that tidbit until someone actually transferred, but had to spill the beans early.

Hopefully he doesn't process it like he did when they got rid of the women's hockey program, as he seemed to rant on that for years to come, although his coverage of women's hockey before that didn't get near the play it did after.

He’s probably still not happy he got scooped by the Wisconsin writer

That's his style and its why I stopped reading his stuff. It's the same with Goon's writing, they are both are good writers but refuse to acknowledge when things are not good.

Hard to trust their writing when it turns out that the fans and administration really did have enough and it’s only a surprise/ shock to the media…….????

Schloss must have truly been blindsided by this. No way he lets that out if he thinks there's a chance Berry was getting fired. He was doing a great job as always of laying the tracks as to the next "unlucky" incident to hit Berry.

At the end of the day we just need @Cratter to cozy up to Schloss like he did TM during the FB hire to add a lil sizzle to the hockey reporting.

does chaves have to have permission from andy to fire bubs?

It would be foolish to think there wasn't communication or consultation on the matter.

I'd be shocked if others maybe even some large donors weren't either heard from or reached out to.. but for a change of this magnitude and spotlight, I'd hope the Uni prez was at least on the periphery of the process.

Be a nobody nationally in a niche sport or be “the guy” locally in the popular sport in the region? Brad does good writing but there isn’t a huge $$$ potential writing about hockey or really writing about anything.

some people will never leave GF because it’s too far from their comfort zone……. Just like GF hockey…..

Chaves either consulted Andy or he’ll be next.

Wouldn't be surprised if Andy called Chaves and said this is what you are going to do.

The large donors had to know that this was coming.  With early out of conference losses against teams far less superior than UND's program, it was only a matter of time. Attendance was starting to dwindle and revenue had to have been suffering too.

Looks like the new coach is going to have to win over Schlossman. He’s throwing a fit like we haven’t seen since women’s hockey was dropped.

What happened to women's hockey?

You got outshot 17-rip by the 30th ranked team in the pairwise rankings in a season on the line weekend 3rd period.

We've never been further away from the top teams in the nation as witnessed Friday night against WMU.  It took sensational goaltending to keep us close, and we still lost.

The University bid regionals to help you get to the Frozen Four....you took advantage of that 0 times.

He's a great person, salt of the earth I've heard over and over again, which is all 100% true.  It's still time to go another direction.

This team was saved by skill over and over this year. The games against Robert Morris where they couldn’t complete a simple pass told me all I needed to know for this season and it continued throughout

Schloss is paid for coverage, and has a professional responsibility regardless of his feelings. He doesn’t get paid to publicly process and sort through feelings, pitch tantrums, etc..  it’s becoming a pattern for him to provide biased coverage and refuse to cover anything in this admin that could be construed as criticism. THAT’S why some are taking exception to his making excuses on behalf of Berry.
