Just guessing here, but a trip to Hugo's to look at some towels for motivation probably isn't going to be of much help for a team that has some deep coaching & player issues.

And besides, if a team requires stunts like these to pump themselves up, it proves that they lack self-motivation to succeed.

Someone needs to inform Berry that the goal isn't to have your season end early so you are able to concentrate on the first portal entries.  It actually might be harder to attract good portal entries when you are never in contention for a National Championship.   Guys want to win.   My concern is that guys like Dylan James think it might be better to get started in the Detroit system because he hasn't had a sniff at any postseason success here.

Which might be a reason for them to sign him and get him acclimated to professional hockey.  Don't know how much longer Red Wing fans give Yzerman a pass.

James feels like a guy who wants to be at UND and is enjoying his time, but I guess we'll find out. He's also improved in his first three seasons in Grand Forks. Hopefully that is one of the reasons he stays.

I agree, and the Wings typically don't push recruits to sign early. They did sign Tuomisto and Carter Mazur early, but the Wings don't bring up guys from the AHL early (or sometimes at all), so why jump early just to sit in the AHL for more years?
