Not sure where to put this, but this auction for Alex's Lemonade Stand has a signed Belquist jersey and mini helmet.  Figured someone may be interested and its for a good cause.

So we are still waiting on Edge, RB, and WR’s?

Haug might have to burn some sage or something because TEs historically come to UND to die a slow blocking death.

If improved tight end play leads to more wins, I’m all for it. Ultimately, need better play at all positions. Hopefully the tight end position sees a boost along with most every other position, especially quarterback and nearly all defensive spots.

There are HC's that call the plays on one side of the ball, but does this mean there won't even be a DC position? Wonder if that would spread out some salary across the assistants to increase their pay?

Unique in division 1 college football. Will see if this works and/or doesn’t change.

I think that is too much for the head coach. We'll see how it works.

Not what I had in mind, but those guys did make a point that some NFL coaches call offensive/defensive plays.  Perhaps a salary distribution move to start things off.  Maybe that changes with future renegotiated contracts.

From what they talked about on the 360 pod, it sounds like you are right and he is doing this to be able to save some money to get quality coaches to come here and spread the salary out.

Also, having a dedicated recruiting coordinator was important for him which makes sense considering the direction college football is heading.

Sounds like he may have had a couple of longshots for DC that he would have been willing to hire to call plays, but decided this was the best route after they didn’t come with.

How did his defense do at San Diego...were they competitive?

I was talking more about being a head coach and calling the defense. The head coaching job has a lot of administrative and oversight duties. I am wondering if Schmidt is spreading himself too thin.

No they were absolutely terrible.  Why did we hire him?

Out of 20 potential starters that were on the depth chart, 10 were not on the roster the previous year and only 1 was a consistent starter at SDSU. You really think he was going to be able to implement his 4-2-5 scheme in short order? Not only that but it was Sean Lewis's first year in SDSU too. There is no reason for your asinine comment on "why we hired him". I am not going to lie; I was skeptical about hiring him but with everyone he is adding to his staff, I am pretty excited to see what the future holds for UND football.

Lighten up, ace.  I was responding to a stupid, meaningless question, as you explained above.

I did like 360 comment on Schmidt looking at current roster saying this is not good enough. We need to get better.

Way better than hearing the lack of execution after games. (Maybe that was Bubba’s way of saying we don’t have the athletes to make those plays)

Excited to see how Spring goes and additions we make (as 360 said kids may hit portal on defensive side especially our plethora linebackers)

What if the salary pool was the same regardless for the same number of coaches, but they were about to spread it out a bit more to get better position coaches....?

;)

Recruiting coordinator will be a big add to the staff that previously wasn't a full time position. Being able to bring ideas on how to do things from a top program in country should pay some dividends.

Wyoming is a top program?

I was talking about ideas from the HC.
On the recruiting side, as much as I didn't care for Bohl, even turning Wyoming into an average program is a huge accomplishment given how hard it is to recruit there. Hopefully some of those ideas come with Haug (though he won't be the recruiting coordinator).
