I don't mind Fargo game as well but would prefer to meet them in Nashville for the win.  That be daggers.

Ya that would be a crazy game to play them for all the marbles in Nashville. Beating them there would be the ultimate and could do so much for the program in so many ways. I'd be fine with our loss at home this yr then . Ha

They would all need therapy after that!

Full Disclosure: I am in therapy myself, so don't think I am making fun of those suffering from mental illness.

Myself, I'd rather beat them in Fargo in the semis, then on to Nashville. Many of them are already assuming they will be in Nashville.

I think Fruechte is on the hot seat, but if the offense gets hot the rest of the way.....he'll probably be back.

Im hoping for a clean game by the offense this week to get back on track and that we are saying Jerry football again....in a positive manner.

I’ve wondered this as well. I like Fruechte for the most part but man I was frustrated Saturday with some calls. Feels like when Schmidt retained him it could have been a way to keep some continuity within the program but he wasn’t his guy.

While beating them in  Nashville would be cool, and it would be an epic weekend in general because I do have a few really good friends that are Bison fans, we'd all be able to hang out etc. and it would be one big ND party down there......I too think.....for program purposes....would be way more upsetting for them to beat them in their own house and then go on to win it all.

Interesting you get a downvote for the facts.

I was even more frustrated this week when he doubled down in a Herald article.  From the article -

"I think I can do a better job of making sure that we're all on the same page through the week and have the right guys in the game, so that we can go and execute at a high level," Fruechte said. "In no way, shape or form would I go back and change anything that we did. I trusted what our kids did throughout the week. I trusted the plan and the prep. I think we had the right idea with it."

All of the above is fine but since it didn't work, how about adding - we'll take another look and see if we need to make any adjustments to our preparation or game plan.

Kelly had an interesting break down of some of the play calls on the pod this week.

On the goal line sequence: first play was a RPO, as someone mentioned on here. If handed off it’s probably a TD. I would have went run on the next play, so disagree with that play call. On the third play, Behymer was open and would have been WIDE open if Jerry didn’t rush it. Overall though, I think we all agree we need to see some runs.

The 4th and 1 play call wasn’t great. Don’t mind going for it, but Kelly thought they were screwed from the start with the formation/play call they were in. They basically went with a goal line formation. NDSU had so many guys in the box. It’s such a big moment in the game and didn’t appear to get the look they wanted. In that situation either: A. Have a second play called which I’m sure they did, B. Take the delay of game, C. Call timeout once you don’t get the look you were expecting. The play was immediately blown up and never had a chance.

I believe the head coach said postgame that in hindsight that they should have called a timeout there for that exact reason. They got a look that was going to make a conversion tough.

I finished listening to Kelly's podcast right after I wrote my post.   All that you posted makes sense and is good insight.  It's just frustrating to read - I wouldn't change anything that we did - when it didn't work.  Maybe even "we should have called timeout when we didn't get the look we expected."

Agreed. Don’t love that quote either. There were certainly some things I bet he would change if he could go back.

Listened to the podcast last night too, and it was a good insight to the goal line series. That rub play on end down works probably 75% of the time there but WR got pulled a bit. And I think Kelly is right, they may not have called a penalty there because they had just called one to give us a first down. The 3rd down pass, if Jerry executes that play to wide open WR....we would have all been saying what an amazing play call by Fruechte to get a guy wide open in the end zone for a TD.

I think they were also right in that.....that missed opportunity at the goal line sucked the life out of the crowd. Up 14-3 I think the crowd may have really gotten loud when we were on defense and the pressure would have been on SU to execute. Sometimes teams press then too, and make mistakes.

Pride, arrogance and thin skin is the last thing Fruechte needs to be showing right now

We’ll see if they pass 3 times from the 2 yard line from here on out.   My bet is that they run at least once in the same scenario. I don’t think it was coincidence that they ran the ball heavily in the second half until they fell behind.
