They should both get reps against Iowa State unless the starter is playing well and we are in the game. They are similar in many ways. Normally if it’s this close you start with the guy who has game experience. Unless Kaminski separates himself, there would be no reason to start his career at Iowa State. Start Feeney and give Kaminski the 2nd half. If they start Kaminski give Feeney the 2nd quarter unless we are staying in the game. I believe you always start the upperclassman unless the younger guy is clearly the better player. They need to play both of them early if it’s that close. 4 Quote
Kab Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 I see Izzo has UND ranked 8th in the conference this year. is that where you think UND will be at year end? Quote

I wasn’t referring to garbage time. I believe we have 3 capable QB’s, 2 of whom are in a tight race to be a starter. I don’t know how good we will be cuz we lost a lot of key players esp OL. I also don’t know how good Iowa State is. I’m hoping we can win but until I see results, I will remain hopeful but realistic. (If you have inside information on vast improvement from last year, I defer to your expertise). If you have 2 QB’s who are in a virtual dead heat to be the starter, you need to figure out who the starter is as early in the season as possible. If whomever you start, plays well and the team is winning, you would stick with him. Otherwise, if he struggles and the team isn’t successful, you would be stupid not to make a change. You also need to get these guys game experience early in the season whenever you have an opportunity until you decide who your stater will be. 7 Quote

AJS Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 Preseason ratings and who those teams don't play. 3. USD (Missouri State / ISU-R) 4. SIU (UND / UNI) 5. UND (SIU / Missouri State) 6. ISU-R (SDSU / USD) 7. YSU (NDSU / Murray State) 8. UNI (SIU / Murray State) With this unbalanced schedule, who you play matters. Based on preseason rankings, ISU-R has by far the best "misses" with the #1 / #3 rated teams. Quote

UND-FB-FAN Posted July 23, 2024 Posted July 23, 2024 UND projected to regress, from third place in the conference to fifth. A lot of proving to do for incumbent Bubba, but the seat never seems to warm for football coaches in Grand Forks and UND, or so it appears. UND football coaching compensation remains behind peer institutions, and you ultimately put your money where your mouth is. Would be surprised if the team is very good or very bad, as we’ve been conditioned to expect ongoing UND football mediocrity (6 to 7 wins and early playoff exit) at this point. X’s and O’s may change with new offensive coordinator. Players may improve in short term with new strength and conditioning coach and in long term with new facilities. Only time will tell I guess … Quote

Not sure why one would go to bat over third place in the conference, seems petty and of low expectations, but you do you. There are some reasons to be excited, and still plenty of reasons to also be concerned. I’ll continue with the moderate approach despite your sentiments. 1 Quote

Didn't state that 3rd or 5th or anything was good, bad or indifferent. Specifically pointed out the fact that there were 6 teams in the top 3 spots in the standings last year so being picked 5th (which again, means nothing) would have had them landing exactly where they did last year and it isn't a catastrophic fall off a cliff like some others tried sell a pointless prediction as. 3 1 Quote
