I doubt that they are ok with status quo.  More likely scenario is that they can't snag the players that would make a difference there.

I think this every time it is said that we don't recruit the right athletes/body types for DE and OLB.  I think we do recruit them, we just haven't been able to land them.

My novice guess Deng Deng is more of a deep threat or simpler route runner. Unless he can develop better footwork and learn how to get separation from d-backs.

Fade, post, corner. That’s all he needs.  Get the db on one shoulder and space on the other and throw to the open side.

This site is the only place on the planet that thinks the above statement is true.

There isn’t a single objective statistic you can point to that puts him anywhere near the discussion of “bust”.

It is strange though how he was almost an MVP lock pre acl to can’t keep a starting job. But the good portion of his career takes him out of the Jamarcus Russel discussion on its own.

Depending on what you consider a comparable draft pick(top 5 picks are fair to me), he wouldn’t even be in the top 10 for his own position all time, arguably in the last 20 years even. Calling him an all time bust is laughable in my view.

It’s true, don’t know what changed in his head once he got hurt, but he hasn’t been able to find that magic again that’s for sure.

That injury might have ended his career if it had happened three decades earlier. But even with modern medicine, I think it limited his long-term potential as an NFL quarterback.

But an all-time bust? Nope, not even close. The Ryan Leafs of the world accomplished absolutely nothing. You cannot say that about Wentz.

I count 15 top 5 picks since 2002 that Carson has had a better career than.

The only time to argue he’s an all time busy is when looking to piss off bison fans who take themselves too seriously like most of bisonville.

Add Jonathan Toews. Michael Jordan was famously shown wearing his jersey. I doubt any athletes from other sports have ever worn a Carson Wentz jersey or any of the other practice squad players from NDSU. Hockey is also much bigger internationally than football, so hockey players are known not only in Canada and the US, but Russia, Sweden, and other European countries.

Are you really trying to argue whether football or hockey is more popular???? Internationally??? Who cares outside of the US or even Canada. NHL hockey even finishes 4th behind baseball and the NBA……. Woof

Wentz may be a bust but everyone who follows football knows who he is. I give it to you that most sport fans couldn’t name where TJ oshie, Toews, or wentz even went to school.

Now how about number of injuries incurred per quarter played?   He was constantly hurt in high school, college and the pros.  In reality the Bison made Wentz look good and not the other way around.

I will say the number of negative post re: coaches is far worse on the hockey board.

number wise you are likely correct....  but imho then venom is much less.  Perhaps it is different me because I am trying to become a UND football fan, where I have long been a UND hockey fan.  Also I see sports a bit differently than most that would venture onto these boards...

Interesting post from Tom Miller this AM in his GF Herald newsletter, which includes a wrap up of FB stories from the past week. He predicts "a few more unknown transfers than previous years" when UND announces its late-period signees on Feb. 7; notes there are "at least two" midyear transfers who are enrolled for second semester but have not yet been announced.

Where can you find this article you are referring to? Can you post it on here?

Comments were in a newsletter e-mailed (weekly, I think) to Herald subscribers who wish to receive it. Some tidbits from Miller (unannounced transfers, possible trainer hire this week, etc), a recap of a primary story and links for other football stories from the past week.
