Wilbur Posted February 19, 2023 Share Posted February 19, 2023 Central's goaltending was good in the EDC tournament up to that game against Sheyenne. It cost them on goals #2 and #3. Sheyenne's goalie was as locked in as I've seen him all year long. Tough for both teams to sit around for a 4 OT game before, but to the kids credit they came out and played a good hockey game. They were 12-0 when scoring 3+. Heck, they only allowed a total of 55 goals all season, and only allowed 4+ three times. That's 7 losses where the winner scored 3 or fewer. I bought this for an earlier Davies game thinking it would be top notch video and broadcasting. I couldn't believe how bad it was for a TV station. Switched back to the high schools streaming half way through the game as it was that bad. The high school streaming broadcast was 10 times better than WDAY and the Knox Radio coverage yesterday was even worse. I watch parents broadcast and video of Bantam and Squirt games that are much better than the "TV" broadcasts. I may have to drive up to GF for the game next week. Hope the storms aren't too bad. Good news @Speez! My sources have informed me that the State tourney broadcaster has hired a camera op, a professional with much on-camera experience. Yes, they've hired The Trunk Monkey! They got him by promising all the banana daquiris he could drink from noon Thursday until a champion is awarded the trophy. We're sure to have better camera work than we had for EDC. Johnny Five Posted February 20, 2023 Share Posted February 20, 2023 Boys state obviously going to be fun. Girls side, final week of the regular season. There are 3 teams vying for the final 2 spots to clinch: LHS/BHS, Willston and CHS. Williston and CHS play Tuesday night (weather depending). That is Williston's final game and they NEED it for a chance in the top 8. A lot of moving and shaking can be had seed wise basically 3-8 as well. Final game of the regular season is WF at L/B for 6 points, which could be a massive for a lot of reasons. After being in Minot for WDA this week, they will run a top notch state tournament for the girls. I visited with the Minot AD a little bit, they are excited to host, but apparently the class B girls state tourney is in Minot that same weekend as well as the boys and girls WDA up north in Bismarck. What has happened to the state tournament experience for these kids? It's sad that what was once a four day celebration has become what it has.
