Serious question... how many deaths and infections need to occur before you would admit that this is a problem?  Is it 12K?  100K? 1M?

Never said it was not a problem. It is a problem but it's not the only problem. Just pointing out facts. It is a concern as is 3.3M in a week filing jobless claims......and list of other things that you wouldn't care about.

If we eliminate social distancing and let the virus ‘run its course’, it’s imperative this country’s medical infrastructure be adequately equipped to deal with the inevitable surge of cases.  Not doing as such WILL result in an absolute shitshow that will spill into every other aspect of people’s lives.

So here we are.  We knew this was coming, yet this nation's hospitals are woefully ill-equipped and unprepared, even for something as simple as basic testing.  And Trump is requesting all of America be open by Easter?  I understand the need to get America working again, but thank god he cannot override state and local decisions.

Yea this is America, not Russia.

Trump said he "hopes" to have the country running by Easter. Will it happen? Probably not. But we're really going to be upset with him having hope?

When are we gonna call this for what it really is, a bar and restaurant shut down (a some others who self closed).

So many business still open.

Barbers. Upholstery shops. Used car lots. Mechanics. Body shops. Print shops. Auto Part Stores. Construction sites. Computer repair shops. "CD and music" shops. Vaccuum repair. Bookstores. Etc.

If you're not a bar or restaurant and you closed down. Might as well reopen.

Not in CA and WA...even construction sites are shut down

China most certainly lied in the beginning. The draconian measures they took to stop the initial spread would never have been tolerated in the USA or anywhere in the free world.  This is NOT the 12 Monkeys virus either, in which case I could support draconian measures.

Good ol Chinese statistics. I’m sure they’re very accurate.

There's a difference between rational hope and ill-thought-out and rash thinking.  Luckily we have adults in the building, both Republican and Democrat:

Err..well, apart from Mississippi.  But if people want freakin' Mississippi as the standard for how this country deals with covid19, I suppose they're entitled to their opinion.

Too much of this country on both sides has become party over country...we leveraged the union to become the super power of the 20th century...maybe we should splinter to remain viable in the 21st?

He doesn't only "hope" things will be open by Easter.   He sent out a letter to the governor of every state with details on how they should "open things back up" for Easter.  He's clearly going to risk millions of lives to soothe his own ego.   Classic Narcissistic Personality Disorder .

Yes, Trump is crazy for suggesting as such.    And so is De Blasio for hoping NYC schools will open in a month. In fact, suggesting as such is down-right dangerous given the current situation..

De Blaio's buffoonery doesn't justify Trump's buffoonery.   The two aren't mutually exclusive.  Idiots, both of them.

As I advanced in my career, one of the greatest blind spots I’ve observed in many talented people is their inability to appreciate the fact that they dont know what they don’t know or they assume that they have the same basis in data or understanding as others in the room.  It applies to both IQ and EQ facets.  To me it’s the biggest hurdle for people trying to get the executive suite.  It’s painfully obvious that it applies to the body politic in spades and half of that body having no actual talent.

This is one of the most nonsensical paragraphs I've ever read.
