We have been busy in IL:

LB Quinn Urwiler, 6', 180, 4.6, Batavia (Batavia), IL

Pretty small for an FCS LB but a lot of schools are looking at him.  I think we are his first offer.

Urwiler committed this evening.

The film doesn’t lie, I like what I see. He’s a ball carrier seeking missile.

As far as I am concerned - if geaux is impressed I am impressed. Geaux has great insights and sees things I will never see.

Great get.

Not concerned, just didn't see it on his twitter account as was stated.  For !@#$ sakes can't people look at things with a subjective opinion?  I've followed UND football for many yrs and don't see why things that are factual can't be posted without being blasted.

Blasted???????  Didn't seem out of line IMO.

This is a great article about Quinn that was written last November.  4th on team in tackles while also rushing for almost 1000 yards, and he can also long snap.   Played linebacker along side NDSU's Luke Weerts and a Northwestern commit.  https://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/aurora-beacon-news/sports/ct-abn-spt-football-batavia-quinn-urwiler-st-1128-story.html

You're right, that is a great article....sounds very impressive!   Sounds like at one point they almost used him as safety....wonder if he would be considered at Safety?    So how tall is he, the article says 5'10 but his hudl says 6'0?   By looking at the hudl he probably looks more like 5'10?

We had a pretty good LB at that height not long ago.

Get him up around 220 and he’ll be just fine at LB.

Update to a list of our first commit each year under Bubba for future tracking:

2014 - Ferguson   - Gone after 1 year
2015 - Grady         - Gone after 1 year
2016 - Secrest      - Never made it
2017 - Larson       - Injury led to a RS year in 2017.  Was a solid contributor with 64 tackles in 11 games in 2018.  Will be a sophomore in 2019.
2018 - Slater         - Never made it
2019 - Lindeman - True freshman season coming up.  Assuming he will RS.
2020 - Klein

And at least 3 of those 4 who didn’t pan out were massive talents.

Is this trying to say that there is a correlation between the first commit and them not staying?

Humm. Are you confusing the NFL draft with college football recruiting? "First commit " does not mean highest talent, priority. Not sure what any of this means. Are you going to give us the history of the last commits too?

Dev Ferguson was "technically" a Mussman verbal, but he did sign with Bubba.   Still, you have a valid observation.

This is not wrong.

"First commit" might be a marginal guy looking to take whatever shows up, and he doesn't pan out and wasn't worth the offer.
"First commit" might be a high end guy overlooked (like that LB that ended up starting at Wisconsin) that we may have outkicked our coverage on.

That said, first commit is commit by the player, not the UND staff.

So, to point, tracking "last commit" or "fourth commit" or "second guy to commit on a Tuesday" are each probably just as valuable as "first commit" from an analytics point of view.
