Who would UND hire?

Well, the last time we opened it up.  The cream is currently the HC at Alabama.  I think the problem is who is making the decisions not the talent pool.  We should be putting together our list of decision makers.  Who have you got?  I have no clue.

Hopefully Hak doesn’t get a voice this time. What would he know about winning the big one anyway?

So realistically speaking: Bubba will have his end of the year conference tomorrow. He will start by recapping the previous game and either announce staff changes or get asked about them. And then we move on forward with him for next year? I hope I’m wrong but I just done see them buying him out at this point.

Chaves is extended through June 2026. They let him go after spring of 2025 and hire new AD. New AD is able to hire new football coach after Bubba wins 4 games next year.

I just don’t see UND making a head coaching change. We are stuck. 2025 looks like a disaster.

If Bubba is retained for 2025, then 2025 will certainly be projected as a lame duck disaster year. Of course, when he possibly goes 7-4 and loses in the first round of the playoffs, then we’re stuck in ongoing mediocrity as he won’t be fired and half of the “supporters” will want him to have another pointless shot in 2026 (all the while NDSU, SDSU, and even USD will be further ahead).

If he doesn’t have a winning season in 2025, which is most probable, then he’ll obviously be fired at that point, but that’s one more season digging the figurative hole we’re in deeper.

It’s finally to the point IMO where a 7-4 season with a first round playoff game doesn’t save him. If he’s back you are exactly right, it will be a lame duck disaster of a year. It’s going to be such an obvious waste of time because we know what he is capable of.

If Fruechte had any say in how the QB situation was handled this season that should automatically eliminate him

To be fair, he had no say in their recruitment, so he was just playing the cards dealt. Maybe none of them fit his vision for a QB. Not saying Freuchte should be the next HC, just that I am going to hold judgement until he gets his guy in the system.

That guy won't be Jerry and it isn't Simon.

Next year I'm seeing 7-5 with loses to K State, Montana, NDSU, SDSU, and USD.   We have Youngstown and Indiana State at home so Bubba will pull out close wins there.   Going 7-5 with a possible playoff bid and loss on the road will be all the justification Chaves needs.

One more contract extension for Bubba and I am done as a season ticket holder.

Yeah, if Bubba is still the coach they will not win 7 games. It’s going to be a disaster.

7 wins assumes wins on the road against UNI and Southern Illinois. Not sure if I see that happening. Sure they both may be awful next year, but so were Youngstown State and Indiana State this year.

And both will find a FBS dropdown or two that will be impact players. Unless UND does the same we will fall farther behind the league and instead of Bubba stepping down leaving team better than he got it, he may have it in the same state as he inherited it.

I just see our better players entering the portal along with better commits decommiting - especially if bubba remains after this year.
we really need some impactful portal recruitment - well we really need a lot of things with no hope of getting significantly better - especially if coaches stay the same

I guess I feel the sky is falling

What is his opinion on sports programs? Necessary evil? Money pit?

He understands the benefits of intercollegiate athletic as well as the challenges. He wants our programs to be successful and sees how it can bring alumni and other supporters to campus and alumni gatherings at athletic events.
