Schmidt has seen first hand the infrastructure and what is needed to win at the highest level of college football. He also has first hand knowledge of how things were run at UND. Safe bet he's picked up a few things that will pay big dividends and I would expect some visible changes on how things are handled with current players and recruits.

Dillingham using a ping pong table, could be a good idea

For assistants it's it a different story, which is what I was referring to

My earlier comments weren't directed at you.  It's been stated a number of times on this board that we don't want a HC that isn't looking to move up in a few years.  That isn't a bad plan but there are a lot of coaches who have been successful in their 'dream jobs' too.

Interesting to read this article now, written nearly a year and half ago: https://www.si.com/college/washington/football/schmidt-has-been-ideal-defensive-fit-for-huskies

https://aztecmesa.proboards.com/thread/70954/dc-eric-schmidt-leaves-hc It’s just a message board and he was only there one year and it was bad. SDSU fans are good with this.

Two sides of every coin.  These are the inherent risks with this hire.

To @Cratter @Shawn-O @gfhockey and others who brought levity to this process the past few days....well done. Fun to read. Chavez...thoro...tail numbaz...

I know a number of these posters personally. Great guys who get it and don't take themselves too seriously but want UND FB to be great again.

Some here frankly need to lighten up. Goodness. Please for the sake of others don't show up at Christmas parties.

Better days for UND FB are on the horizon....hopefully.

I loved your guys shtick, it was funny watching others react.  They didn't get it which made it even better.  Looking forward to more coaching changes in the futre.

It’s almost like success drove their opinions.

Cleveland fans probably weren’t too high on Bill Belichick.

Definitely doesn’t install a ton of confidence reading about how undisciplined their defense was last year

that's the thing......a lot of us were kinda souring on his defense at und at the end before he left too.....

Schmidt’s ability to recruit and lead a team will be his biggest strengths. He is a defensive guy, but won’t be calling the defense more than likely. Obviously he will be very involved on that side of the ball but he’ll be bringing in a new scheme and hopefully a good connection that he has made recently to be the DC.

There's risk with any hire of course.  Wonder what percentage of fbs head coaches are fired within 4 years (some quick Googling put it around 30%).
