I'm very sure Rice is one by how her mom reacted to the UND Bassline tweet.

I’m sure a reaction from the twins and Rice will be coming soon. What’s funny is there is more support for women’s hockey on Facebook after the cut than people who attended games.

Why isn't this story plastered across the top of the herald's page and posted three different times on their Facebook page like all the other women's hockey dying stories? It's just a tiny little story at the bottom.... Ridiculous.

Isn't that the truth, kind a like not enough controversy in this story to use up too much ink. What would of the front page looked like if the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights would of found a little something.

Thanks for keeping us informed of this Brad, I have been just waiting to hear where she went! Your hard work on keeping the women's hockey program around is soooo great!

She went to Lindenwood, not where you’d see a supposedly high end recruit go.

How in the world did I miss this little ditty? Let me guess, Section C, page 6, bottom near the fold.

The lead on this one was buried: "UND moved strategically before making Athletics cuts." OCR is in and out in six months. That's as short as OCR will ever go. UND had all the ducks in a row and was expecting this and completely prepared and ready. And that's exactly why Baker Donelson was brought in.

PS - Brad ('cause I know you're reading this) - the last paragraph of your article where you quote the last paragraph of both letters, that is what you call "boilerplate legalese". That is standard form letter from OCR; they have to officially close the inquiry and its scope. That's worth reporting just as much as "sun rose in east".

So what's the official final count?  Stories Brad wrote about women's hockey before it was announced they were cut versus stories written after?  Sounds like that could be another story right there....:)

Now that the twins won their gold medal are they going to rally their fanbase especially Schlossman to get more articles printed trying to get UND to reinstate women’s hockey?

Women's hockey remains far too stale.

The problem with women's hockey is that is hasn't grown internationally especially in Europe...........which is hard to image since almost everyone uses ice skating as their major form of transportation in the Netherlands.

Can’t close Pandora’s box.

you bring back one it opens the door for the other programs to say: hey! Why don’t we get a chance.

the reaction on the academic side would be much worse. (How come athletics gets to bring a program back and we can’t?)

It further proves this: Had all that talent and nothing substantial to show for it??? Come on Idalski.....

It rarely freezes the ice on canals in the Netherlands.  But when it does, every one is out.  Ice skating is a national obsession that they don’t get to do outdoors very often.

The first challenge for our new AD....how to handle this issue. You know his office will be bombarded with calls from media and the thousands of women hockey fans that never attend games.

So, what are the chances the twins bring their gold medals back to the Ralph next weekend and wave to the crowd at center ice?

Probably better than 60%.
