nodak651 Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Living in the cities, this kind of surprises me that grand forks plows the alleys. St. Paul alleys are plowed by private contractors, with households from each block pitching in to pay for it. They city council now wants the city to takeover alley plowing. When I lived on an alley in Grand Forks, almost ten years ago now, I don't remember this being an issue. I also don't remember if the city of GF plowed our alley or if it was a private contractor. Did this change recently? Quote

Did this change recently? 15 years in this house this is the first time ever where my alley hasn't been plowed within 24 hours of the storm ending or slowing down...something wrong at city hall. Load up the car about 10 pm. Wake up 8 hrs later to see the burbs of Chicago go by. Put on the 3D VR headset and watch a couple movies and suddenly when they're finished, you're in Nashville! Seems like a very primitive future "goal" now that we are watching a monkey play pong with its mind. Quote
Cratter Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 An I29 interchange at 47th ave south is coming closer to reality. But that's like a bridge to nowhere. It's so popular theres no road there. Yeah dont put it at the popular spot just a mile south of there at 12th Ave NE (Merrifield Road) that already crosses the interstate. 2 Quote
Kab Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 It’s a good spot for it the city is growing south and when there is access there will be more building there the city will build a road there, it looks like it’s plotted there already Quote

If anything, it is merely filling in (mostly residential, at that) where it had already grown. Virtually no commercial, retail, or dining, except for a couple of new banks along Columbia. And I don't know anyone that had been clamoring for two new banks. Hugo's has owned a large parcel at 47th & Washington forever, and chose to build downtown instead. The part of me that enjoys zooming up and down I-29 thinks that this is a thinly veiled attempt for the nanny state to justify lowering interstate speed limits permanently in town. Which would be unnecessary. EXHIBIT A: see Fargo, where 55 is a total joke. I think it would be better to develop the Merrifield interchange and dare the local economy to catch up. Because at present, the 32nd exit would be infinitely closer to most commercial destinations. Quote
Kab Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 There is 0nly so much room for infill if you want grand forks to stay the way it is don’t build it Quote
tnt Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 Right now 32nd avenue gets all the traffic from the south end trying to get on the interstate. They need something to take some pressure off that. Quote
Cratter Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 Color me crazy, but I'd think the Merrifield Road already is a road with high traffic that would be perfect for an exchange....I dont know....because in the past they determined it would be a perfect place to drive over the interstate instead of 47th! They clearly decided back then it warranted it. But now build a "one sided interchange" on a nonexistent road? Lol Quote
Cratter Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 Bunch of Tesla chargers outside Target close to Tire One being installed. Quote
LuvHockey Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 bunch at nearly empty mall in Jamestown off I94 and 281 corner- never seen a car plugged into one so far.... Quote

Seen a few Teslas in GF. Work with a guy that owns one. But they aren't for them. They plug in at home. More so for travelers. There are already others in GF. This is just more. There is only going to be an increase in their usage moving forward. Wouldn't mind a Cybertruck myself. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 Tesla wants corridors with their level two chargers every 60-90 miles. Fargo: Casey’s at 94 and Veterans Jamestown: 94 and 281 Buffalo Mall Bismarck: Exit 161, In parking lot northeast of Lowes. The described GF location profile fits: just off interstate in public open parking area. I won’t be surprised to see them at Dakota Magic casino on the border 60 miles south of Fargo (there because there’s not much else place for it). Quote
The Sicatoka Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 Why Tesla charges? Level 0: House 110V outlet, 8+ hours to full charge Level 1: 240V (dryer or range size) outlet is 1-4 hours to full charge Level 2: minutes to full charge Quote

Bought the Oculus Quest 2 this weekend. Highly recommended. Cheap price too. Probably losing money on each sold. It's almost creepy how real some stuff feels. Film grandma with a 3D 4K cam and relive those exact moments years later. Games are awesome in 3D! The controllers make a world of difference from the "cell phone vr". Be on stage during a concert and really feel like you're there. Graphics and content will only get better as the years go on. Quote
sioux24/7 Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 Driving on 32nd is a so ridiculous right now. They need to finish putting up the last few lights and get these things synced. I’m sick of stopping at every single light my god. Quote
