sioux24/7 Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Pretty sure it was present last season. Quote
darell1976 Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Where is the sack city sign? That needs to come back. When it says sack city on the video board I am waiting for a current tally instead of just the words sack city. Quote
Cratter Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 "Sack City" started out as a group of students in the front row putting up a sign in their front of the railing counting the sacks. The Alerus started using it officially on the video boards for "funsies."I guess those students graduated, and the Alerus thought it was pointless during the Muss era when there was one sack a game. WiSioux Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 (edited) I saw the Sack City sign as a Throwback Thursday just before the season started.... I took a screen shot but it is too big to post, apparently. I can try from my actual computer. Edited October 8, 2015 by WiSioux Quote
Siouxper Slam 29 Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 UND students learn the Hockey traditions by going to the games and having the same thing happen every game. After a couple of games they catch on. The first few games every year the freshman aren't involved but then they learn. Football has no traditions to start with it seems for students any more. It needs to start with gameday production. If every year the intro song and things are different its hard for students to get a tradition in for that similar to what they do with In the Air Tonight at the Ralph. They get pumped up to it because they know its time for UND HOCKEY, just like VT gets pumped to Enter Sandman. Agreed. Seems like they're trying find something that sticks with people right away, but it can't stick if they keep changing it. I went to Red River's Homecoming game against West Fargo, and the 30-40 students that West Fargo that came along were more into that game than our students are. Quote
UNDBIZ Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 I saw the Sack City sign as a Throwback Thursday just before the season started.... I took a screen shot but it is too big to post, apparently. I remembered the sign being higher quality, but this would certainly be a step up over having no sign at all. Quote
UNDBIZ Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 The Red River student section seems to have more going on than UND's. Quote

UNDColorado Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 It would be great to see a student take the initiative and make up a new one! Any current students reading? Quote

SiouxVolley Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 The Red River student section seems to have more going on than UND's.Since UND is in Centrals boundaries, the hockey only support must have spread. Central has had absolutely atrocious student sections for years for everything but hockey. Quote

Central is a joke for most sports right now. It's pretty sad. Quote

geaux_sioux Posted October 9, 2015 Author Posted October 9, 2015 Maybe a signature song for when we get sacks would be kinda fun. Not that we actually get them we could make it into something. But which song? Quote
geaux_sioux Posted October 9, 2015 Author Posted October 9, 2015 Maybe Let's Go by Trick Daddy or Turn Down for What by Lil Jon? Quote
Cratter Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 To get rid of the "Sit down and cheer" flashing across the bottom of the video boards before the games. 3 Quote

KEH Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 And the band plays Stand Up and Cheer, I would pick the band's message over the Alerus. It's an advertisement for the new UND Podcast titled "Sit Down & Cheer" 1 Quote
Irish Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 After this game, I'm pretty sure we won't be needing the Sack City Quote
JohnboyND7 Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Nothing wrong with the Alerus. Felt like it was about the right size of UND can get people to show up. Entrance was weak but I don't see that as a make or break deal. I don't see anything wrong that moving back to campus would solve. Quote
ClassB Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 I thought music was good between big downs initially but it's almost as if whoever was calling those shots left when most of the students did -- not clutch when the team/fans needed it down the stretch Quote
