darell1976 Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Well said......pretty pointless season. I have never even dreamt of going to a baseball game in GF. What is the biggest crowd to see a baseball game? 900? 1000? I haven't been to a ball game in GF since the GF Varmints in 1996.
gundy1124 Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Lingerie Football could be a good alternative to women's hockey. At least the uniforms wouldn't cost much.......

Woden Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Thank you President Kelley. I hope this bill fails majorly and is never thought up again. Good chance it passes.
darell1976 Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Good chance it passes. Then in 2017 they can make another bill saying no name until 2019. When does it stop? 1
Shawn-O Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Good chance it passes. Please say you're joking.
The Sicatoka Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Then in 2017 they can make another bill saying no name until 2019. When does it stop? "Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." -- Albert Einstein
jdub27 Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Good chance it passes. Good chance it doesn't make it out of committee as well.
Redneksioux Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Und should take the info they got by investing almost $100k in consultants and pick a name before the bill has a chance to pass. Problem solved.
homer Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 I'm glad everything is going so good in our state that our elected officials can have a lack of a nickname as one of their top priorities. What a joke. 1

Irish Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Good chance it doesn't make it out of committee as well. Actually, all bills make it out of committee - the committee just attaches a pass or do not pass on to the rest of the house or senate 2
darell1976 Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Actually, all bills make it out of committee - the committee just attaches a pass or do not pass on to the rest of the house or senate Someone's been watching Schoolhouse Rock.

Woden Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Someone's been watching Schoolhouse Rock. No it's just the way our legislature is set up. Having worked for them, I saw this firsthand.
jdub27 Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Actually, all bills make it out of committee - the committee just attaches a pass or do not pass on to the rest of the house or senateYou are correct, the do not pass designation is what I meant. My mistake. 1
iramurphy Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 There is no reason for the legislature to continue to interfere in this issue. It does in fact hurt not to have a brand/logo. They need to the the University make the decision and stop trying to micromanage. Sioux logo and name is a dead issue. Too bad. Best part was the cool logo done by Brien but other than that it doesn't matter anymore. We need to move on and have Kelly focus on improving our facilities and support for athletics as well as marketing the University. If the legislature wants to cont. to interfere, they should appropriate the lost revenue dollars since they they have prevented us from moving on.
Hawkster Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Why doesn't the NCAA remind the Legislature about the agreement signed by the AG? It spells out that we will pick a NEW nickname. I agree with Kelley, get this over with.
Irish Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 You are correct, the do not pass designation is what I meant. My mistake. The problem is that if a few influential pin heads speak on the floor in favor of the bill it could sway more votes than the committee recommendation. We seem to have a couple of idiots in positions of power down there.
GDPritch Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 I'm sorry but 2,000 fans at a hockey game in St. Cloud isn't impressive at all when compared to 17,000 fans at a football game in Texas. The two sports are incomparable. There are a lot of alumni and, more importantly, prospective students that would have a great deal more interest in watching high quality football or basketball as opposed to high quality hockey. There is a reason the NHL is solidly fourth among the four major sports and realistically more like 5th or 6th in terms of TV ratings and market share behind the PGA and NASCAR. Heck, on most nights in a lot of markets in this country you're more likely to find an MLS or Premier League soccer game on your television as opposed to an NHL game. College hockey doesn't even register. It's a non-event.v Yes, and FCS/Div 1-AA football is a non-event to the average college football rube nation-wide. And that's not to belittle NDSU's 4 straight lower tier title wins, it's just a fact. So, same-same I guess.
Cratter Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Is the FCS the only "major d1 sport" that doesnt visit the white house? 4 nattys and I havent seen one picture of them there.
