Since atmosphere helps with recruiting, could we move on from 60's and 80's music to something the recruits actually enjoy?

I don't know that effortless 60-65 yard throw in the air against USD by Wentz was impressive. I don't think SU's offense allows him to show all of his attributes. But either way, Carson is not overrated. Easy to watch him and be impressed and understand why NFL teams would want him.

This is absolutely one of the dumbest arguments out there if one sits down and analyzes it. The talent that UND faces in hockey is concentrated, and not spread out amongst more teams at the same level and first picked through by teams in a higher level. While teams like SCSU are DII and have to compete with hundreds of teams either at their level or much, much better for football, they are after some of the best hockey players in the nation. Hockey doesn't have near the drop-off in talent from the top dogs to the lower teams like football because even the lower teams get some of the best talent in the nation. Also, simply using name-recognition as the standard means nothing. It would be like making fun of NDSU for losing to Gonzaga in basketball. Clearly Gonzaga has a great basketball program, even if their name isn't known in other sports.

If anything I would argue that Carson is underrated for the next level. He has had virtually no TE/WR to throw to the last two years in an offense that prides itself on running the ball. He has all the physical attributes you could ask for in a QB (size/speed/athleticism). Given 2-3 years to develop, I think he's a Joe Flacco-like QB, if not better.

I'm not sure where NDSU fans think all this talent is? Granted, the 2013 NDSU team is easily top 3 if not best of all time in FCS/IAA. But what is there now? DL took a big hit from last year. LB took a huge hit from last year (though the MLB is top-notch; depth is not what it was). Safeties dropped off huge. Biggest loss of all, though, was Crockett. Prior NDSU teams not only had great starters, but the backups would start on most teams. This NDSU team, built around running and defense, has neither running nor defense and is trying to path it up by having a stud QB (possibly best ever at NDSU), throw to receivers that aren't good for this level (except Sheppard but he's young/slightly injured). I don't see the "talent," and I'm one of the most objectionable fans you'll find.

Got a chance to see Studsrud in-person for the first time at the Davis game. He definitely needs to learn to get his passes out quicker. He waits to see a man open, instead of throwing the receiver open. It's a big detriment to the passing game right now. Those windows close quickly at this level. Hopefully it's something they are working on and he can get the confidence to throw the ball where it needs to be.

Tell anyone before the season UND would be 2-1 after three games and they would be ecstatic (knowing it meant a victory over WYO or SU). Tell anyone before the season UND would be 3-0 after three games and you'd be at the NDSH. Either way, good start so far. Guys just need to keep battling every play and let the chips fall where they may.

Thank you for the review of the game. I watched the highlights, and UND did not blitz on this play. They had nickel in and brought 4. It appears a DB wasn't aware they were in nickel and comes running on right before the snap. That DB is one of two chasing after the WR. Also, we lucked out on the 52-yard run. Wow you really just want to argue about anything and everything don't you? Let's see: 1. Gewehr 43 (Similar semi-auto to M1), although I'd probably take the M1; 2. Sturmgewehr 44 (As mentioned above considered first assault rifle); 3. MP40 (Similar to "Tommy Gun" with no recoil); 4. Tiger-series tanks. Far superior to anything the allies had; 5. Fritz X (first "smart bomb"); 6. Sun Gun (just like it sounds like, check it out); 7. Sonic Cannon; 8. Whirlwind Cannon; 9. Horten Ho 229 (first "stealth bomber"); 10. Great Gustav (largest cannon ever produced); and 11. Tracked Mines (just think of a RC car with a bomb strapped on). I'm fine with my knowledge in history. Thanks

If I could wipe my ass with $100 bills, I'd probably start collecting "weird" things as well. Personally, I love history, and would collect anything from prior wars, including the "bad" side. German weapons of that time were far superior than anything anyone else was producing. Their uniforms are obviously historical. This whole issue is really a non-issue.

Babich neither brought the West Coast Offense nor the Tampa 2 defense to NDSU. Both were done by Bohl.

Babich didn't get fired. He was a finalist for HC of his alma mater, Tulsa. That fell through but then his close friend Lovie Smith got the DC job with St. Louis and Babich was hired on there.

I get your point, but you also ignore a couple of things: 1. UND had virtually zero talent last year, and the talent it did have, for the most part, was young. I attended the first spring game and it was rough to watch. I attended this year's and it is night and day different. 2. First year in a system which has traditionally been known to take about three years to master. Before you say "they ran the 3-4 before," understand they weren't even close to the same. Huge difference between calling "Stack Stud" and then calling "Day or Night" based upon the offensive formation and calling "Stack 3," checking into "Grapefruit" with a "Miami/Tampa/Switch" call then checking into "Tite" with a double switch, only to go to Miami on motion by the offense. Also learning the different calls by an on linebacker and how they impact the offense. The Schweigert version of this defense has so many moving parts, all designed to confuse/attack the offense, that when mastered is hard to beat. The version before he got back was essentially a 4-3 with 3-4 personnel. I can't tell you how far the coaching fell off after Lennon left. 3. NDSU no longer has Crockett. I know some of these other RB's are good, but Crockett didn't belong at the FCS level. Dude was a man amongst boys.

I'm not going to read this thread because even comparing common opponents doesn't do anything in football. Strengths/Weaknesses of each team are different and a few bounces of a ball can make a huge difference. Just my $.02: This is the type of game that if played 100 times, NDSU would probably win 85-90 times. The perceived strengths/weaknesses of the teams match very closely, and could make this game closer than expected. NDSU likes to pound the ball and wear teams out. The UND front-7 on defense is anticipated to be the biggest strength of the team. If NDSU can get it's passing game going or some of that "NIU" quirky offense stuff going, I don't see UND having much of a chance. If they can't, and NDSU must run the ball, that plays into the strengths of UND. UND is going to attempt to run the ball. I say "attempt" with as much respect to the players as possible, but realistically I know they won't be amazing at it. With NDSU losing as many 3-4 year starters or significant players as it did at LB/S/DE, UND may be able to play some "3 yards and a cloud of dust" football to kill the clock and let the D rest. If UND can accomplish this, and the D can do what I said above, this game could remain close, with anything happening at the end. I know there is this idea of "let's see them play first," but from my experience, a week 1 team is not the same team midway through the season. Assuming no injuries and both teams having the perceived strengths/weaknesses as above, my prediction is something more like 20-13, NDSU. I think UND can give NDSU more problems than NDSU fans think, but it would take some amazing execution and luck by the UND offense to pull this one out.

Bohl will be exposed as the POS he is at Wyoming. He lucked into some great recruits from Babich, then when his own recruits started being the main players, NDSU was garbage. Thanks to idiotic leadership at UND staying DII and Brewster ignoring MN, NDSU was able to overcome his initial lackluster job and land the premiere talent in the area. It was easily a best case scenario that played out.. Luckily NDSU now has a national recruiting footprint, because UM is now recruiting MN hard.
