UND at SUU

Coming off a buy I expect the team to be focused but with a huge matchup against EWU the following week and a SUU team hungry for a win it could be an interssting week.

Remember the trip for the MBB team to Utah last season.

I think Bubba and company will make sure that they stayed focus on the task at hand.  Chance to get to .500 in conference and overall play, 1st road win of the year, chance to keep building momentum to EWU, and that small..... small chance at the playoffs if they win out.

I am expected them to take it to SUU and I will be extremely disappointed if they do not win next week.  I'm expected the best performance of the year on both offense and defense

Don't listen to the "herdz" fans; if UND wins out, they'll be a playoff team.

As for this matchup, it will be a close game, but UND's defense should be the difference if the game is played disciplined (no turnovers, penalties, etc.). Have to hope the bye week will come in handy.

I would expect this game and all of the rest of the games on our schedule to be tough games.  I'm not sure what would lead us to believe this, or any other game left on our schedule, would be a blowout. We are capable of winning this game and if we keep improving, hopefully we will be able to compete in every game left on the schedule.

It seems to me a lot of people are getting ahead of themselves.   We could win the rest of our games.  We could lose the rest of our games too.   Being realistic, some of both scenarios is more probable.    If we could be  .500 team I would be thrilled.  Even though we seem to be improving, winning the rest of our games just doesn't seem very likely.

Agreed.  What you are seeing is a fan-base starved for success that has been given some hope, and is starting to get ahead of themselves.  Focus on SUU, get a win, and get back to GF.

We won't blow any teams out on the scoreboard, obviously, but i think we'll be able to dominate a few games. I'm talking like a 14 point win where the outcome was never in question. Our d should be able to hold a lot of teams under 14 from here on out.

No issue keeping expectations realistic.

With that said, I am also of the mindset that UND should be competing and in every game left on the schedule. And obviously because I'm a UND supporter, I expect UND to pull each game out as a win. The coaching staff and team should have the same mindset, particularly because these are all conference games that UND should EXPECT to win moving forward this season and all other seasons.

I think we win this game but I also think it will be another nail biter.  SUU's record is not that good, 1-7, but they have played a fairly difficult schedule that includes 2 FBS teams and 2 FCS ranked teams and 1 FCS team receiving votes.  Not sure what they lost from last years team, but they were a playoff team.  If this game were at home, I would feel better about it.  I still think we win, but it will be closer than a lot of people think.  Here's a link to their schedule:

SUU's last two home games are a 3-point win vs Weber State and a narrow 12 point loss to #2 EWU. With that, I think this game will be close. Have to hope the bye week and UND's defense will allow UND to come out with a win.

Even when we had our good teams that were deep playoff run type of teams, usually there was one game during the year where we barely won, or lost to an average or below average team.  And that is when we had a solid offense, defense, and special teams.  We definitely don't have a solid offense this year and are capable of laying an egg any given weekend.  I don't think it will be this weekend, I think we will win but it will be a 4 quarter game.  I think SUU is going to want this one as bad as we do.

I like out chances - baring a dumpster fire. Based on the crowd in the background of the SUU video I'm starting to realize what a gap there is between the top tier of Big Sky football in both player quality and crowd support - the Montana's and EWU play to sell outs, the bottom tier plays to a empty seats - UND can establish a home in the top tier in both categories.

UND should be in the top 4 with Montana, Montana State, and EWU. That's largely based on fan support and budget/coaching pool salary. Fortunately, I think Bubba is getting UND to that BSC upper echelon category real fast here.

Remember with our offense this year we don't have much margin for error.  Just one fumble, interception, penalty or bad snap could cost a score and possibly the margin for victory.  3 road games left and 2 home games.  All are possible wins with our defense.  One at a time and remain hungry.  Just get our first road win.

Tough break for McGill.  He will deffinitley be missed.  Hopefully Seibel can continue to progress and have more games like the one he had against Portland St.  Waiting for Walker to break out with a big game this season.  I think that this week he will have a great opportunity to do so.  Good to hear Shaugs is making the trip. We deffinitely need to pound away at the T-Birds this week on the ground.  Having a good rotation with Shaugs, Garmin, and Norberg should hopefully keep our backs fresh and wear them down.
