Risky Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Believe it or not. NDSU is afraid to play UND. It would appear that NDSU would have no problem with UND, but goofy stuff can happen in football though. Gene Taylor is not willing to take any risk of that happening. If they lost to UND heads would spin in Fargo. His biggest fear is that by the time the game was in Grand Forks, UND will be a lot better and UND might not need any fortunate bounces to win. NDSU fans will scoff at my theory, but the fear of what might remotely happen has him going on the road to Weber State and not coming to Grand Forks. Meanwhile GT will keep coming up with varying excuses why they can't play UND.

They could have chipped away at that gap the past few years.

Actually you could say they blew it - if they would have played us recently they would have 9 times out of 10 destroyed us by the time this gets scheduled - if ever - the playing field could be more level. (it's never going to be as unlevel as it would have been in the past 3 years.)

tnt Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Looks like Taylor wants an excuse not to have a game between the two. Short term, the advantage goes to the College of Home Economics at the University of Agriculture and Applied Science. Long term, It just makes FU look bad. Like they needed any help... I can understand his concern. In absence of the game, he and their fans can claim they are so much better. If they weren't playing in other sports they would be claiming how much better they are because they are 5 years ahead in the transition. The reality is a 6-0 record. It could have been 6-1 if they played football, but that's not the reality.
Popular Post homer Posted May 14, 2014 Popular Post Posted May 14, 2014 The first game is going to have to happen in the playoffs. Right now it is on UND to get there. After one game, the state of North Dakota will not accept excuses for the game not happening. Until a playoff matchup happens, Gene Taylor can come up with every excuse he wants. This thread is three pages long and I also think GT has suffered enough in the posts. 5
Dagger Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 McFeeley says UND shouldn't be picky in trying to fill out their schedule. UND should just play one game in Fargo and leave it at that for the time being. NDSU is the one that probably shouldn't be so picky. NDSU has had a lot harder time trying to fill out their schedule than UND has had. Thus NDSU is going on the road to Weber State and home games with Ferris State and Incarnate Bible school. Remember McFeeley is into NDSU's kissing butt just like KVLY is.

UNDColorado Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 SFI is going gangbusters on Twitter! don't back down fellas!
stoneySIOUX Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 This thread.....lol https://www.youtube....h?v=owzhYNcd4OM I think you're confusing sadness for annoyance. The fact that these two teams don't play is annoying.
darell1976 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 From KFGO FB Page: Today on the Mike McFeely Show, 2-5 p.m. on KFGO: Brad Elliott Schlossman story in GF Herald outlines how talks have stalled about renewing Bison-UND football game. If you are UND, why not take the $175K-$190K check for one game in 2015?
Risky Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 The bottom line to this whole issue is, the reason the game doesn't happen has nothing to do with the profitability to a school or lack of profitability, the open dates on the calendars of either school, or how good either team is or isn't. The only reason this game isn't being played is NDSU and Gene Taylor don't want to play the game. Any other reasons for not playing the game are all baloney. 3

Johnboy, what are your thoughts as to why NDSU is willing to travel to Missoula and Ogden, but not Grand Forks for non-conference games? 2

Dagger Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 Gene Taylor is probably wishing he hadn't scheduled that home and away with Weber State. It is making him look very hypocritical. It is funny how a persons actions can come back and bite you in the backside. That game shoots a hole in almost everything he has said.

DI IN FARGO Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I've never seen as big of a bunch of losers pissing and moaning since the sports coverage of your football team last fall.

UND1983 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I've never seen as big of a bunch of losers pissing and moaning since the sports coverage of your football team last fall. Not even near the level of your fanbase after the Montana State debacle. That was some high-end baby time.
