Siouxperfan7 Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 The dominos are falling. What will happen in the next year in college football is anyone's guess. Crazy times Quote

I think NDSU is getting nervous with top rated FCS schools leaving the only way I see this working is with a split of MVFC and Big sky to form the northern lights football conference for FBS, problem will be money and adding more women’s sports Big boy football will split off soon anyway with maybe 4 super football conferences Quote

The Sicatoka Posted November 2, 2021 Author Posted November 2, 2021 If Bill Chaves is as was advertised, yeah, the home front ain't looking so great right now, but there is opportunity to create the "western MAC". It would take someone with connections to both the Summit/MVFC and the northern tier of the Big Sky. 1 Quote
LDL Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 it seems like a few years ago when realignment for the Dakota/Montana schools was discussed there was the issue of (possibly from the Montana schools) having a southern or at least California presence for recruiting. I know the Montana schools usually have a decent number of Cali players on their teams. Would this be an issue going forward and if so, which other schools would be good for the conference? Quote

The Sicatoka Posted November 2, 2021 Author Posted November 2, 2021 Anyone know if Chaves went to Nashville? Would've been smart to go and try to meet some of the folks at Middle Tennessee State University (Murfreesboro*). MTSU with LaTech, FIU, UTEP, and WKU are the dying embers of C-USA. Yeah, they're going after NMSU, Jacksonville State, Liberty, and Sam Houston. But should C-USA look to bolster, creating a northern tier/division would be a future lifeline. *Drove through part of the MTSU campus the other day on the way to some little town, Lynch-something, vague recollections of what's there. The Sicatoka Posted November 2, 2021 Author Posted November 2, 2021 Missed this rumor: Middle Tennessee State and Western Kentucky are claimed going to the MAC. That would kick C-USA down to three (FIU, LaTech, UTEP). C-USA would need the four (Liberty, NMSU, SHSU, Jacksonville State) just to maintain a pulse. Under that (C-USA 3 + 4) scenario, C-USA almost has to figure out how to get back to a viable number. A northern branch of seven or so to make 14 in the conference would get C-USA off life support.
