Watch here as a YouTube user attempts to watch the Long Island University vs UND stream via ESPN+ on 8/27/26, then to later realize that Western Illinois (I repeat, Western Illinois!) is a better choice as they actually have a working stream…

Embarrassing. President Armacost and AD Chaves need to explore alternatives (WDAY for example?) ASAP, even if the recent mistake of an agreement with Midco leads to 2 more years of this unfortunate garbage …

While I certainly think the home opener was a huge error, I generally think Midco does a good broadcast for us, specifically with Alex Heinert of Brian Shawn on the call. Much better than what I have seen from WDAY with Dom Izzo, although Dom does a much better job with talk shows and that coverage side of NDSU football.

Technically issues do happen. Major broadcast corporations aren’t impervious to similar issues. Ask Netflix.

Now if this becomes a regular occurrence, I’ll hand out the torches and pitchforks.

Technical issues do happen, but, they don't last for over 3 damn hours unless they never set it up properly in the first place and had nobody competent in studio or tech center to diagnose and solve the problem.  I didn't  sign up for ESPN+ for $12.99 a month to watch a HS production.  You could watch about 6 other games on Thursday, but not LIU and UND.  Absolutely ridiculous and Chaves and Schmidt should be all over the producers for this kick in the gonads for UND and LIU fans.

I see in the Herald that MIdco apologized to UND.  Great! It doesn't get my $12.99 back though.  MIdco still bad for UND football.

But they can. Netflix is prime example. I can’t remember which NFL game(s) it was but they had problems all game long. They also had a big boxing match that had technical issues the entire time. 

The scrutiny is warranted for Midco though. They gotta do better.

Overall I am ok with Midco. 
They had an ugly first game which is very frustrating.

Hell no, Midco Sport Plus broadcast had no audio for the 1st Q. and a large portion of the 2nd Q.  Then when they did get audio it had this awful hollow echo..  So, bad I turned the audio off.  I still haven't watched the 2nd half of the game.  I say this as a big fan of Midco and the coverage they have given to UND sports.  But, this was a major miss.  And no message from the AD on this topic.  But of course I did see the next day they released his podcast on time.  I wonder if the sound was working?

Not even an amateur broadcast, just incompetent. Did they ever explain the root cause of the problem? The absolute minimum they need to do is explain exactly what happened and what they are doing to ensure it doesn’t happen again. This is not a free broadcast, this is something people are paying good money for. Ridiculous.

When you’re fighting perception of a state for media coverage, things like Thursday cannot happen.   If they do happen, the provider cannot blame other stations.  Disappointing and telling in my opinion.

That is pretty frustrating, especially when someone is actually paying for ESPN+ and still cannot reliably watch the game.

For fans outside the area, the stream is basically their only connection to the team, so getting the broadcast right should not feel like an afterthought. A bad stream does not just annoy existing fans, it also makes it harder for casual viewers to stick around.

If Western Illinois can put out a stable broadcast for the same kind of game, UND really should be able to expect the same standard.

Hopefully they take a serious look at other options before this becomes the normal experience for another couple of seasons.

Is ESPN+ carrying the St Thomas game or not.  Their MVFC schedule doesnt show it yet UND Atlhletics does.

If Midco has a copy of the LIU game the least they could do is send it to ESPN.    UND should ask for this.  I'd watch it if they posted it in their replay section
