He's gotta realize that most campuses are on spring break...and you certainly can't compare conference tourneys to NCAA regionals.

Well the box score on CHN from the UND/UNO game shows attendance was 0, so I guess he must be right.

There are others complaining about this (spring break attendance) including Starmann

I've seen others mentioning the low attendance as well, but not using it to push their agenda of keeping NCAA regionals at neutral sites.

Uscho show attendance at 11,400, I’m sure it’s helps that season ticket holders are billed for first round p,at off games when they renew

Spring break and there are a number of high school sports tournaments happening in many places as well.

Is Wodon on some NCAA committee or does he have some other influence that make his opinions on regional site locations matter?

He has a big bull horn with college hockey news.

So his opinion really means nada.

Just a cursory glance at this forum would suggest the national tournament means exponentially more to fans than conference tournaments too. That doesn't fit his narrative though so he won't acknowledge it.

Got that right

Is the consensus I should buy plane tickets to Sioux Falls or hold off?

Eliminating Omaha certainly increased the likelihood. Even if Holy Cross wins,  I still feel that Michigan or Michigan state could be sent to that regional, since there’s essentially a tie of the top three teams.

Schlossman commented that if Holy Cross makes the tournament, probably as the 16th seed, and hosting in Worcester, that it is not unlikely that the number one overall seed would be sent to Massachusetts.

UND is .02 points ahead of Michigan and .10 ahead of Michigan State in the current NPI.  There’s still a lot of hockey too be played before the NCAA’s so it’s very possible UND gets a one seed but isn’t the overall #1.  Holy Cross still has to win their tournament so I wouldn’t be shipping the boys out east just yet.

I know he did say that, and I am not saying the committee wouldn't do that, but the committee also makes changes based on attendance purposes.

Say the committee has this dilemma: Send the #1 overall seed 1500 miles away from their campus to play the worst overall team in the tournament in a venue that they (the worst team) chose; OR, send the #1 overall seed to play the second worst team in the tournament in a venue that's 300 miles from their campus that can easily be filled with their large traveling fanbase.  To me, if the committee is interested in "protecting" the top overall seed, sending them to Worcester does not do that.  Plus, the optics of a full regional, which has been increasingly uncommon in the neutral-site era, would be so much better for the sport.

I would like to think that the UND team/staff would prefer to play the second worst team in Sioux Falls rather than playing the worst team in Worcester, but it's possible I'm wrong.

Isn't the committee forced to have #1 play #16, in all fairness to the rankings?

Ah, the ever dangerous Holy Cross 16th seed!

CHN has UND at 44% for #1 seed and HC at 18% to win AHA so 8% chance that's how it plays out. Buy them in a refundable manner, so not basic economy or Allegiant/Frontier.

I am a little surprised that Denver and Western Michigan can't change places considering they play each other next, and the winner of that game would potentially play (and could beat) #1.

Kinda garbage to make the highest team in the field play the lowest team who is a host school and to send them far from home. Doesn't matter who it is whether it's UND, Michigan or Michigan State. If UND was also hosting this year they would have to adjust. What are the odds that Holy Cross gets in? Still games to be played. The committee likes to reward the top overall team and the 1 seed teams.
