He's a heck of a hockey player, great hands, great speed, and can get an absolute piss missle of a shot off very quickly.

A prospect? maybe not right now but if puts a bit more size on and follows the path, who knows.

Easily one of the top kids in the NDAHA 05/06 group at the HP camp this past weekend.

Fun kid to watch play hockey.

He's got plenty of time to age out of juniors, hopefully a name worth remembering.

I believe that is the 18U prep team that is the varsity.

Expand

18U Prep is the top team. "Varsity"

The 18U AAA lands those that dont make the prep team as well as those 16 yr olds that dont make the 16U team.

Team ND Tier 1 got smoked at all levels in the National Tournament. You can't have a temporary team that only plays together for a couple of months compete against teams that play Tier 1 AAA all season long. Even the few MN teams that played Tier 1 didn't do well in the Nationals.  MN is too ingrained in their high school leagues and ND is following that system.

If you want to be the best, you have to play the best. Canada is darn close with their AAA teams. Team ND along with Team MN should be in a AAA league along with teams in Canada. Let the players that have the talent hone it playing better competition. You can't play a weaker high school schedule and then expect to compete at the Tier 1 level. That's the reason players are leaving to play with AAA teams.

If you want to be the best, you have to play the best.

Not sure if smoked is the correct term but do know that Team ND won the last two NIT tournaments against teams stacked with big time college commits. This is a tournament in the past they did indeed get smoked year in and year out and to win it back to back was unthinkable a few years ago. That same group also beat then ranked #2 team in all of AAA NorthStar Christian Academy 7-4 on their home ice last year and year before took Shattuck to the brink only to lose a heartbreaker at Shattuck .  Not bad for some ND kids that come together without any real practice time together.

UND could use another goaltender in the pipeline. Whom should the coaches target?

Expand

Make a list of all NCAA teams.  Remove the teams ranked in the top half this past season.  Now, with the remaining teams make a list of all goaltenders.  Next, remove all starting goaltenders leaving just the backup goalies for the bottom half teams.  Once you have that list, remove all goalies except those who will be a junior for the '23-24 season.  Once this coming season is over, I imagine a few of those will hit the portal for their senior year in 2024-25 and it will likely be one of those that Berry ends up recruiting.

I’m glad you posted this tweet. It shows some of the behind-the-scenes work that the coaches do that rarely gets acknowledged or appreciated. Also, it’s cool that young and impressionable hockey players are exposed to the Ralph. I have to think that that exposure pays dividends down the road. Well done.

This is just a pretty normal occurrence, the staff is usually quite accomodating (as they can be) to requests for tours for teams while in town for various youth tourneys.

It is an a great thing to expose kids to the facilities. Never know where the next diamond in the rough can be found.

What's the word on James Hagens?
Another elite talent...the current crop of young US talent is pretty crazy...
Think he'll follow his bro to Harvard?  Follow Eiserman to UMN?  Go to BU?  Or maybe CHL?

He’s following a decent number of teams, including goofs. Not UND though. I’d say we have next to zero chance with this one.

I do have a hunch we’ll be hearing something here soon though

Interesting. Would this player be more exciting than the last teased commitment (Komzak)?

Yeah, I haven't seen anything connecting him to UND, so agree with you there.

Don't sleep on Komzak.
He has two "unteachables": 6'4" and RH.
His feet are acceptable but need some polish for the NCAA level. That is teachable.
