A conference champion that loses in the first round does seem very on brand. 🤣 Completely kidding. He would be a great get if he would be willing to head west. Quote

He wrote about all three most recent hires. Everyone found a hidden agenda in it. Reporting the scandals.... why do we feel entitled to these stories? Ultimately, does it matter if Jammer was doing something he shouldn't have been? What do readers get out of it if they know? A scapegoat? Seems silly to me. This is taken to the extreme. I never said he should report gossip nor was I suggesting that personal situations between players or coaches need to be aired (Jamernik etc.). I was simply trying to point out that people should know what to expect - PR approved/spun media that isn’t going to ruffle feathers and occasionally his bias on how he feels about things. And people have a right to be critical if they want or infer meaning from how he writes an article that is spun to a specific narrative - either because UND no longer allows him to report anything unfavorable and/or that he never pushes on any real topics because UND holds his access over his head. 1 Quote

If we are guessing, it may or may not be true, but we don’t know, nor do we know if it was part of the equation. Berry has moved on with a classy letter. Might be a good idea to let him move on in peace. 2 Quote

You are correct in that people have a right to be critical if they don’t like what he writes or doesn’t write. As I said, it goes with the job. 1 Quote

I never commented on his ability to pass the bar exam, but instead, only stated that it is hard to obtain licensure with a criminal record, which is not an accusation. Quote

If UND doesn't want to talk to Brad, there is no one else who will get any stories from them. It's not like there are 2 papers and a dozen reporters covering the team. UND sports reporting is critical to the health of the Herald. A healthy newspaper is a big deal for a community. I wouldn't think it would go over well in the newsroom if the Herald pissed off UND or a coaching staff unless it was really important information. 3 Quote

A “national powerhouse” college hockey team that doesn’t even have local sports coverage because they demand only positive coverage? A hugely passionate fan base that can’t even read about their team? Not good for business. Brad probably does get ripped on too much. But he also fanboys out in some bizarre ways. The defense of “bad luck”, “hot goalie’d”, “statistically they should have won!”, “but a defenseman was injured”, and providing zero acknowledgment of Berry’s postseason performance struggles (or other reasons) why he was let go and instead criticizing the decision? It makes it hard to take him seriously- that’s all I’m saying. Maybe like some on here he feels the need to over-index as a way of balancing out the fans sometimes unreasonable expectations, but it comes across as lopsided coverage. 2 4 Quote

The ASU weekend was turbulent and when the tension between Berry & Jackson kind of overflowed...rumor is that they almost came to blows. Then the horrible home weekend against WMU. Then the following weekend when the "Jammer incident" occurred during the bye week. The admins started hearing about these issues from players, staff, and team personnel. Players were not happy with how Berry handled the Jammer issue...Dane wanted to handle it in a different manner that aligned with what the players wanted as well. Berry is a great guy, no one is stating otherwise. I think he got taken advantage of a bit with that and he couldn't make the tough choices, especially with this year's senior class, their playing time & roles, and the Jammer issue. By the time the season ended, the decision to replace Berry had already been made and had been in process for at least a month or more. Not trying to be a Richard, but coaches RUMORED to almost come to blows? Admins thinking of replacing Berry in January? Dane wanted to handle the Jammer issue, whatever that really was, differently then B-rad? If all these things were true then it kind of adds up but rumors and speculation on happenings inside the program don't necessarily make them so. Quote

No, not that I know of. However, those things describe a program in chaos and disorder. Which is what we've seen on the ice most of the season. I would not be surprised to learn that some or all of those things actually happened. 1 Quote
