MafiaMan Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Welp, the silver lining in all of this is that instead of a semi-final game at the X, the team can look forward to playing in Tempe, Kalamazoo, Denver, St. Cloud, Colorado Springs, Omaha, or Duluth in the 2nd round next year! Quote

It's nice to have something to look forward to. (sarcasm) Quote
The Sicatoka Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Perron is a turnover machine. Swanson isn't much better. Both need to get stronger on the stick. UND would gain possession in their zone and then slow down to set the offense and giving time for WMU to set their defense. WMU would gain possession in their zone and go on the attack. The Berry Era difference summed up. I see Liv and Wiebe signing off the D. Beyond that is just rumor and speculation. Quote

I’m just thinking he’s had a lackluster first two years….he basically sat entire 3rd last night when we needed a goal (and he’s supposed to be a producer), and the way we play hockey is the worst type of system for him. Oxbow6 Posted March 22 Posted March 22 If you had the prop bet last that Bump would hit double digits in SOG you are a winner Quote

It’s because they play a possession game…they’ve never played a true dump and chase game…the game we played when I was younger. It’s very foreign to a lot of younger skill players. To be honest both should go to schools like DU, BC, BU etc. They would be way more impactful and probably help their careers tremendously. Quote

SuhakiYeahYeah Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Thought about this last night while in bed. TJ and Sacha were the best players by far. Feel so bad for them. Western had a relentless forecheck and endless tenacity with their sticks. Battles with full effort the entire game. Meanwhile, what do we get? ZERO forecheck. ZERO battle. ZERO stickwork. Western went and made things happen, while the "business suits" just sit back and wait for plays to be handed to them on a silver platter. Dump it in, then just sit back and let one single guy go after it while everyone stays back. Shocker, doesn't work. It like they just hope to get lucky, but as the namesake of the arena says, "The harder I work, the luckier i get." It's an unentertaining and losing recipe that continues to get cooked, and we need a new chef. 4 Quote

I've never seen a player so afraid of contact more than Perron. He's small but ultra talented but turns the puck over because he avoids body contact at all costs. The play in I believe it was the second period where he has the puck on a mini 3 on 2 and the Western D man steps up on him to make a hit and he totally bails giving up the puck and Western turns it right back with an odd man and TJ bailed him out. I've been hoping he doesn't hit the portal but after watching last night in a big boy hockey game he is totally neutralized which is why (along with the turnover) he wasn't one of the top 9 playing the third. Hate to say it but not certain we would miss him all that much and if rumors are true he is getting 6 figure offers I'd recommend him to take it to go elsewhere. 1 Quote
gfhockey Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Barry style fits grinders. He doesn’t fit the high-end playas and blue chippaz 1 Quote
Clark17 Posted March 22 Posted March 22 WMUs puck support is excellent. They always seem to have numbers - we don’t and haven’t all year. Many weak side assignments missed too. 2 Quote
Popular Post Godsmack Posted March 22 Popular Post Posted March 22 I’m actually relieved Bump wasn’t seriously hurt. My first thought when he went down the tunnel was great-he’s going to miss the tournament and Western will get bounced. He deserves to participate for a national championship, that guy is so good. 3 6 Quote

We used to forecheck the hell out of teams but that was yesteryear. Which makes it inexcusable that Croal sat as often as he did. He is the one player that jumped out for his tenacity on the forecheck. But maybe that was frowned upon by the coaching staff because it was outside of the “system”? 1 Quote

How much more can UND keep expecting the fan base to keep shoveling their hard earned cash or highly compounded credit towards? This is exactly the thing that will finally bring change...but much to late, I'm afraid. When the tix went on sale for the fargo regional, I didn't even bother to try and get any...held on to way to many tix over the years for games nobody wanted to see, or und wasn't apart of...the checkbook is the only way they will feel,it enough to make it hurt Quote

Don't kid yourself...weibe hates contact as well...and is super weak in front of his net....but he puts points on the board with assists...wich is good, but alot of the time it comes at the expense of his defensive responsibilities Quote
Kab Posted March 22 Posted March 22 I would like to know the source of these 6 figure offers if players are discussing offers just leave now, they weren’t thinking about UND hockey enough Quote

BusinessSoot Posted March 22 Posted March 22 An observation….. Bookend losses (start/end of season) by UND, to a former player (Ferner/Augie asst) and an active player (Constantini) whom were both told they were no longer welcome to be part of UND hockey. Quote
