However, I would say that they looked much better after going down 2-3, and we can at least hope that they will continue playing THAT way (not yesterday's way) going forward. They need to be on an edge. Quote

SIOUXELEVENS Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Your captain should lead by example, but that was a very bad example. Late and to the head for what reason ? Quote

Lammy, Parise bless him, made mistakes like that too. It's as if some captains feel the big hit will inspire their mates to play at a higher level. Quote

This is exactly what this team has showed me as well. Take Blake off last years team and this is what you get. One great player sure can mask a lot! 1 Quote
bcblues Posted January 12 Posted January 12 I don't think Jammer is really the best choice for el Capitan. He is 24 years old and probably doesn't relate all that well to the younger players. Since he does not have an NHL contract, that furthers the rift with most of the rest of the team. He can play great, but let him go fly planes and get a different, better captain to lead the team. Just my 2 cents worth. 5 Quote

Get the frustration with his penalty last night but Louis has captain material written all over him. 1 10 Quote

But Cornell and Bemidj losing means our RPI is lower than it was this morning. EDIT: Bemidji in fact tied, they were down 2 with 4 to to the last I checked so I'd written them off. And didn’t it also hurt us with St Cloud being swept by Duluth? Quote

tnt Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Just out of curiosity, do people think Matt Greene should have been Captain for UND and alternate captain for the L.A. Kings? I would argue he had many more questionable penalties, nevermind an off ice issue. 1 Quote

You normally want a guy who has been through the experience of adjusting to the college game and the college experience. He can relate to the younger players cuz he has experienced what they are going through. He has had time to gain the respect of the coaches and his teammates. Players still get to vote on captains don’t they? I know coaches can veto/add alternates etc. This isn’t per wees or bantams where the best player or coaches kid is often the captain Having been drafted or not isn’t something that teammates tend to see as something to affect relationships with their fellow teammates cuz neither they nor the coaches make those decisions The weekend penalty issue, which is inexcusable, is something the coaches handle with him behind closed doors. 1 Quote

Oxbow6 Posted January 12 Posted January 12 This team is just talented enough to avoid a disastrous weekend with the Hobie gaffe and Jammer 5 after getting completely outplayed Friday. ASU is good. Solid goaltending and better defensively than I anticipated. Got some skill to create offensively as well. Big picture the right team earned 4 of 6 points. 1 1 Quote

Popular Post brianvf Posted January 12 Popular Post Posted January 12 Don’t the players vote for the captains? He must relate somewhat with the other players if they voted him into the role. 5 Quote

Does he play a little too far off the edge at times? Unfortunately, yes. But let’s remember: The guy came in as a freshman at the midway point of a season and worked his way into the lineup. He has been on a great team of 20-21, has played in 3 ncaa tourneys, but was also on the dud of missing the NCAAs in 2023. He has been through 4 years of ups and downs on this team. He already has a degree, is taking advanced classes, and is a flight instructor all while balancing the burdens of being a D1 athlete. No one epitomizes hard work and leadership better than Jammer. 5 Quote
