So we need to get rid of the couple guys with no UND ties? Those guys are some of the only ties that Coach F has to UND. I think both coaches are great especially compared to the other side of the ball. Both played FBS ball, unlike our D2 coaches.

i wouldn’t mind bringing in a true QB coach who can develop these Young guys. Move coach k the WR’s.

I was right once again. stepps and Kostich will be good guys to keep for the local contacts . Can’t wait for a new d coordinator

is Eric taking on the DC as part of his deal?

Unlikely. Three defensive coaching positions are open, once those are filled, one of the three likely will be named defensive coordinator in addition to specific position responsibilities.

Probably just DC in title? Assuming Schmidt will be the play caller.

Not doubting your reply but it seems like a strange way to hire a staff.  I'd think he'd work top down.  Maybe his preferred DC candidate is with a team that is still playing.

I’m hoping this isn’t the case. There’s so much to worry about as a college HC that I would prefer he not be calling the defense.

Yes.  I am thinking he's courting one preferred name, with a potential couple backups in case his first choice doesn't pan out.

Eric Schmidt is not going to be both a defensive coordinator and a defensive play-caller, all while dealing with head coach responsibilities. There will be a new yet very capable defensive coordinator in place in due time. Patience, patience, patience.

No DC posting?  Interesting.
Or has it been posted?

Is their a special teams posting?

Schmidt has mentioned that he likes coaching special teams.

No, and I didn’t type that. I’ll let you break all the news, don’t worry, but the HC is not going to be the titled DC, so that stands.

I agree, how cheap would that make us seem if we had the head coach be the DC.

Didn't we have to wait 30 days for the announcement for Bubba to be hired. Schmidt was hired in what 10 days, many assistants are in place.  Would rather Schmidt get the right guys than worry about how quickly they are hired. I'm confident it will all come together.

Ndsu would have fought that tooth and nail

NDSU would not have ever existed in that hypo. It would just be University of North Dakota and we'd all be together.

I hear there are a lot of openings for coaches with Northern Iowa, Drake, North Dakota, Idaho, Fresno and Sac State so there a lot of coaching shuffles as schools have coaches moving for better opportunities. I believe this all slows down process of getting coaches signed or committed to coming here. We may also be finding are pay levels might be problem getting people to come here. Plus there are openings for coaches at FBS is at much higher pay scales than at FCS level. We experienced this last year with offensive coordinators before you have someone signed other schools are coming in making better offer to where they are looking at those offers as well natur. Society.
