They played as a team. The offense peaked at the perfect time.

And if this team ever “peaked” it was too early. Either way, considering how lines continued to get shuffled this late in the season speaks volumes. No consistency.

Hell of an athletic department.

I was just about to post that.   Seems to be a trend.   A rather alarming trend.

I also think conditioning may be a part of this meltdown.  Mich had way more gas in the tank in the third. UND played faster than them in the first two periods… the third, they were flat footed.

Pyke being out def didn't help.
He usually plays more minutes than anybody on the team.  Then they shortened the bench more with Benoit, so they were essentially running 4 D.

Saying a player is “the dumbest”. Yes, I’d say it is. Have some class.

I guess I just meant dumb mistakes consistently. Is that different? Drives by the D and tries a fancy drop pass to nobody in particular. Highest percentage of turnovers leading to opposing goals (I would guess) ?

Wait, we have basketball?

We should invest some of the hockey budget into basketball.  We’d get a better return.  Terrible effort by a team that has every advantage a team could have.

Did I miss something? Was there another D out? We did have the other 5 besides Pyke didn’t we?

Well I didn't say it but it's probably an accurate way to describe some of the play.

If I had edited that comment for whomever wrote it I'd have used

"from moment to moment Blake's Hockey IQ yo-yos from the vision of a God on ice, to a blind mouse  cloaked in the arrogance of unmastered ability".

but I didn't write it.

He also has a boat load of points. He’s high risk/high reward. If you ask him to stop taking chances, the points drop off. Let him play. He’ll likely make the hobey hat trick, so maybe find someone else to blame this on?

Agreed, Blake is the best F and it’s not close. Not his best game whatsoever, but he’s super good. He’ll get a few games in for the canes this season for sure.

Tough one to watch…feel like Michigan got some bounces but we disappeared for the opening 10-15 minutes of the 3rd.  Not sure what happened to UND down the stretch but they were never able to recapture the intensity of the last DU series.  The his was definitely a winnable game but somehow we come up short again.  Damn.

Seemed to switch into normal Berry/staff mode the last minute of the first, getting lucky to not give up one.  Had some lulls in 2nd and got incredibly and unbelievably destroyed in the first half of the 3rd.  Two goal deficit brought some effort and urgency back but it was too little, too late.  This is UND hockey now.  One and done.  Eaves 2.0 is accurate.  Remember the Woog days and the golden choker label?
