Popular Post jk Posted January 14, 2024 Popular Post Posted January 14, 2024 Blake has issues, but he can create something out of nothing like few others. I don't know if there's been a change in the way other teams are playing him or what it is, but there's been less of the good lately and more struggles. I personally am not a fan of singling him out for blame when you can pretty much go down the roster and point out mistakes. Nice game for HH, but they protected him much better tonight. He made all the easy saves, and wasn't asked to be spectacular. 7 Quote

Some guys need to be moved down and a couple just need a suit. They took Perron off his line down the stretch for more defensive play, so why play Blake all the time in a lockdown situation? If the same mistakes of not getting it low weren’t happening, I can see rolling the lines, but the same errors happen over and over, almost like he has no intention of learning puck management. To that end, we should be finding a way to get Albrecht and Ness in more in those situations. Happy for the win, but with 3 minutes left or so we should have our responsible guys out there. It doesn’t guarantee anything, but you shouldn’t have as many odd man rushes from turnovers just inside the blue lines. 2 Quote
Popular Post burd Posted January 14, 2024 Popular Post Posted January 14, 2024 Blake is a big part of any hope of winning a 9th, but maybe they can designate no-dangle, no blind pass zones for him. 3 7 Quote

Yes, I can imagine our season ending on an ill-advised dangle where the situation requires getting the puck deep. Quote
Oxbow6 Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 Based on what I saw this series I'd go these forward line vs the Clowns 18 14 17 26 22 9 28 21 27 29 8 11 4 Quote

I don't always agree with him, but he's a great human being and knows this great game as well as anyone. Anyone who has a problem with him should maybe look in the mirror before making off-base comments about a great fan and person. 2 1 Quote

If Blake wants to get paid to play this game, he's going to have to stop forcing things and make the smart, non-flashy play when it is appropriate. Let the game come to you and the offense will come. 1 Quote
AlphaMikeFoxtrot Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 We went almost a game between goals this weekend, but got good goaltending from our 2nd string. Wonder if it's his net to lose next Friday after tonight. Quote
dden3 Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 I’d play bothe of them next weekend. Denver has done this kind of goalie rotation from time to time with great success. Quote

Popular Post Godsmack Posted January 14, 2024 Popular Post Posted January 14, 2024 I was shocked to hear Berry in the post game interview mention that Ness didn’t get a single shift in the first period and then comes out in the second period on his first shift of the game and scores a goal. Given how lackadaisical the team looked in the first, I’m kinda surprised he wasn’t inserted at least a shift or two as the first period progressed, just to see if he could’ve added some much needed juice. 3 2 Quote

Blackheart Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 Totally outworked and outskated in the first...Ness' hustle was just what we needed. Our energy/grit lines seemed to have the better of the play tonight. Defense was better than yesterday and HH made all the saves he needed to...I was hoping for a 4+ goal game tonight but a regulation win soothes a lot of the pain from recent OT losses. Off to the Clown College trailing the Huskies by 2 points in the conference standings. Edit: Had Sioux won last night's game they would #3 instead of #7 in the Pairwise...every game counts! 2 Quote

Those boys were skating and providing energy every shift. James could have had multiple goals each night with his chances, glad he finally got one. 1 7 Quote

How you handle goalies is no doubt delicate, but based on Hedquists performance the last two games, you would have thought he’d earn the net next Friday. Quote

There's also something to be said about the level of play and experience. Hobie has three career starts against Alaska and Omaha. Persson has obviously seen more of NCHC play, against all teams in all situations. I'm not against a split and giving Hobie the shot, but I'm not close to saying Persson isn't our No. 1. 2 Quote

The decision who to start next Friday will be based on a host of factors, of which last night's performance will be one. I have no problem with Hobie taking the net, but I'm sure the staff will see how the week's practice and Ludvig's recovery goes before making that decision. Ludvig has proven himself with more performances (including 3+ months of practice) than Hobie has. And just because I'm full of shyte doesn't mean I'm not right on this. Quote

I used the word earned very deliberately. Trying to get better about not getting too far into the weeds w/ situations like this. I think it’s worth noting though. 1 Quote
