Losing no recruits is huge.  Now the next hurdle is to not lose a significant guys to the Portal.

I Think the lower number of players for fbs may stop some of the portal exodus

‘the portal for fcs may be more for drop down players

interested to see where Feeney ends up and if UND gets a fbs drop down QB

We lost zero after Pabst flipped correct?

Even got a Moorhead kid!!!

Hell of a job by the staff. 100% class all the way from every one of them in uncertain times for their future.

Not to poo-poo on the signing day celebration, but there's a lot of talk about what a good thing it was keeping all the recruits in this class, but also a lot of talk in the new coach thread that we need better recruits.  So, if the current staff, whose recruits have underwhelmed the fans, especially on defense, just recruited this class, what should make me feel any better about their future performance as student athletes?  Were these recruits committing to UND over our primary rivals?

Not wrong. Few had good competing offers (which in recruiting is the main thing I focus on), but not too many more than most years.

Pretty impressive really. Good on the staff in a tough spot!

Recruits see the big things are on the way for UND football and the potential is high if the right coach is hired …

South Dakota State has done pretty well with recruits no other division I schools offered: https://www.siouxfallslive.com/sports/college/south-dakota-state-football-a-program-built-on-underdogs

Sounds like how UND took over NDSU in the '90s - with undersized and underrecruited underdogs a la Mike Mooney.  Gives me some hope anyways that that can be replicated again.

My continuing complaint is there are OL's 300 pounds or close and the DL is  a 245 guy.

Need more meat on DL

Even a Mark Callahan was under under 275 in high school (he wrestled) It should not take long for him to gain muscle/weight. I do agree the 6-2 300 pounder we got should try some NG/DT. My time at UND it was not uncommon for big D-Line that are not overly twitchy get move or OL later in their careers. Once on offense line, they never crossed over to D-Line unless goal line defense.

Holding all the commits was certainly a great job by the interim coach.  But with improving the quality of recruits is the goal I don't see this class as any great improvement over past classes.

According to 247 UND signed 2 three star and 6 two star recruits.

Compare that to the SUs

Rabbits signed 11 three stars and 5 two star recruits

Byeson signed 16 three star and 5 two recruits.

Ain't closing the gap on the SUs that way.

Zero argument that on paper that those two have better classes than UND. But ranking by stars isn't the way to do it. Many of the players they signed didn't get upgrade to 2 or 3 star players until after they committed. Plenty of politics that goes on behind the scenes with how players get to those spots.

Overall point still remains that UND needs to continue striving to get better players and start winning more battles for players with multiple offers. That isn't debatable at all.
