Nothing like playoff hockey! That third period wave gave me a lot of confidence for this weekend. I would give UND a slight advantage in this one.

Yes, the finish of that game has got me excited for Friday night.  Definitely confident that we won't let St. Cloud end our season either.  Saturday night would be the right time to get our first win against Denver of the season.

Not that I wouldn't like another shot at DU, but our chances would be better against CC, and I do think a UND/CC Championship game would be a lot of fun given we are both lower seeds, and it would guarantee another NCHC team in the tourney.

A Denver win against CC is not a done deal by any means.  I think a team like CC could clog up the neutral zone ie like Bemidji State does against us and make things miserable for Denver.  CC also has pretty good goaltending.

CC although cannot play firewagon hockey with Denver the same way I believe we are better equipped to.

Seems to me that UND's fate may depend on whether Omaha is good or not.  UND played them five times over the last two weeks, and if they're good, then UND is up to speed with playing good teams.  If they actually kind of stink, then UND is in for a rude awakening playing good teams this weekend.

Omaha is not a bad team. They took 3 out of 4 from Western Michigan and Duluth, split with Denver in Denver, and split with St. Cloud and Alaska at home. They lost 2 early 1 goal games to Niagara at home early and went 1-2-1 against CC, or they might be in the tournament.

Yep. flip those Niagara games and they are sitting comfortably at #13 right now.

For anyone going to cheer for CC at game 1 Friday, the Xcel / ticket####er website has the game starting at 4:30.   Today's announcement from NCHC has that game starting at 4:00.

Don't be late or you'll miss CC's first two goals.

Are both games one session?

And can pretty much say the same thing I’m guessing for UND had they not blown a 2 goal lead and lost 3-2 to AZ State and had they beaten Bemidji State in the game they tied them.

Oh, of course. I was playing with the assumption that we'd be playing DU since @jk was talking about playing "good teams" and I think DU is better than CC.

Overall, doesn't matter who we play, we need em both!

absolutely. And at this point it doesn't really matter. Team needs to control what they can and for now that is just SCSU. I'm thrilled the season didn't end this weekend, but I really want to see us make it to the NCAA tourney. Sneaking in to the tourney with the season we've had would be a big time win, and once you're in the regionals, anything can happen.

Hang on Friday night against Quinnipiac(had 5-4 lead in third and ended up tying), hang on Friday night at Minnesota(Gophers score with extra attacker and win in OT), and the Arizona State game and Bemidji St. tie and we are #8....something about ifs and buts

wasn't there also a game against WMU that UND was up 3 goals and lost?

There was a game against St Cloud that we coughed up a 3 goal lead.

What all of these Ifs and Buts tell me, especially when comparing to the way UND has played over the last month is that the talent was always there to compete with anyone (we saw that with the Goofs) but now the team has gelled and seems to be playing a much more complete game. The questions will be is it "too little, too late"? OR will this be somewhat of a Hakstolish type of year where the team started off poorly, he found a way to right the ship, sneak in and we have a chance at a run.

There is no doubt that this team CAN play with anyone, but WILL they?
