Goophers: I mean really they embody everything that is wrong and evil in the hockey world. Historic performance earns a level of earned hate through their success. 2. DU: Just a disgusting ignorance of hockey knowledge, but again, historically successfull to be on thebsame page and scale of UND. 3. UMD: The diving, the human shitstains of desperation and wannabee fans is disgusting. Its so sad. The pathetic play and fan base elevates them even in the face of lack of historical success. Success only on the coatails of those associated with them. 4. BC/BU: Boston, East coast bias and arrogance. Lots of reasons to hate both ways in success and anguish. 5. Michigan: Fu*k Michigan. That is all. 6. Bison: cause I can. Unworthy of hate: St. Clown: good lord the place is one missed state payment away from being turned into a prison. Historically unworthy of elevation to the likes of the others. Fans need to know hockey to even be engaged, havent met many that can understand the game. Omaha hits a similar station here. Honorable Mention: Wisco.... love to face them in rivalry, always had great experiences with fans who after a few jabs are thrown back and forth, buy you a brat and I buy them a beer and we sing sagas of hate towards UMtc and Mich. Just cant hate Wisconsin though, just enjoy the intensity of the rivalry. This is the correct list
yzerman19
I define my list by the team that (if we lose) I am worked up about that night and into the next day. That said: 4. DU- great history of some key games. Bina hit, Gwoz’s stroll, tied in Natty’s. 3. Gophers- this was far and away #1 until the conference split and their decline from national prominence. No longer are they the chosen ones entitled to win (which made me hate them). 2. UMD- like many others on this thread, this rivalry has usurped Minny. Their rise in national prominence and conference affiliation along with their style of play and particular members of their fan base. As Doc Holiday says in Tombstone “he reminds me of someone...me...I’m sure of it, I hate him.” UMD of late reminds me of UND of the early 80’s- which shouldn’t be a shock based on their bench boss. 1. Anybody we play in April...but especially those we lose to.

Still, **** Michigan! For me, the regional final game losing 1-0 against Denver in 03-04 is the one I’ll never really get over. That year, even more than 2016, I believed was destined to win it all. Not proud of it, but that was the toughest sports loss I've been to in my entire life. Honestly worse than 0.6 because that team punched above their fighting weight at least, Minnesota and especially Union were better teams that year. The 2011 team should have rolled right through that Frozen Four like they did the regional. I can't imagine the feeling those players felt in the locker room. I wasn't even mad at the team, just felt bad for them.

I was supposed to meet a guy to buy title game tickets at intermission and he didn't show. He called me when I was halfway back to Bemidji and said he was ready to meet up. Saved me a few hundred bucks and I'm sure he found a UMD fan to take them.

Their fans (what few they have) are awful and they play a tough, cheap game, but are the first ones to dive and pretend to be hurt when given the opportunity. Speaking of diving, Perunovich left the ice the Saturday game a couple of weeks ago agains Duluth and I thought they might have to amputate his whole arm the way he acted leaving the ice and going directly to the dressing room, and then he came back out and finished the game. Did I see that transpire that way or did I miss something? I’ve always liked Sandy, but if that is how he coaches, I’m losing that respect. If I coached I would be embarrassed to have my players act that way! 1a. Duluth 1b. Minnesota (they are less hated by me since Don left!)

Rebel_Sioux
1. Minnesota - both my brothers went there 2. UMD - most of my cousins went here 3. SCSU - had a terrible tour there as HS student. Plus they keep breaking my brackets by losing right away. Plus they hurt Chay Genoway 4. BSU - My parents went there 5. Wisconsin - better dead than red 6. DU 7. Every other NCHC team 8. Every other Big Joke team 9. Cansius 10. All other old WCHA teams

Reminds me of this quote from Rounders: In "Confessions of a Winning Poker Player," Jack King said, "Few players recall big pots they have won, strange as it seems, but every player can remember with remarkable accuracy the outstanding tough beats of his career." It seems true to me, cause walking in here, I can hardly remember how I built my bankroll, but I can't stop thinking about the way I lost it.
