From a recruiting perspective, Blazek has been excellent. Our own Bob Cancro wrote on how Big Ten assistants were ranked based on their performance with the 2017 recruiting cycle. Blazek rated the best of any Rutgers assistant, as he was 13th overall in the Big Ten and the only one from the staff to make the Top 100 list for FBS assistants."

Arguably the easiest FCS school to recruit to needs an 'excellent' recruiter??  I'd be more worried about the X's and O's with the new staff.

Recruiting at NDSU obviously didn't go quite as good as they originally hoped.  They offered the Wisconsin QB a walk on not long ago and by  the end they had to give him a full ride to get him..  NDSU  apparently  didn't get who they really wanted if they went from walk on to full ride in the last week.  they must of been feeling a little desperate.

Wishful thinking Risky. They lost a QB commit and because they think they need a HS QB every year they upped their offer. They still have the highest rated FCS class outside of an Ivy League school.

Not saying you're wrong, but the online ratings websites suck for fcs.  NDSU is prob the only fcs school that has a guy working at 247 keeping their commits page updated.

Edit:  Apparently Portland State, Central Ark, and Idaho are ranked higher.

Simple Dan,

Since you are lying about 'dishonest recruiting', answer us this: why did Roehl tell Graetz to not say anything publically about his offer from NDSU - right before the upcoming recruiting weekend?

Please answer the question and dont change the subject, SD.

Question wasn’t directed at me, but I’ll say I don’t know the answer to that.

Why do you think Coach Roehl did that? If indeed he did.

But... I am fibbing, cause your staff is honest all the time.

I’m not buying this holier than thou act you’ve been playing lately.

Recruiting is a zero sum game with real winners and losers. Every school(including your beloved hawks) do things that serve their own interests at times at the expense of others.

I have no idea of the details of what you’re talking about, but the kid seems quite happy with his commitment to NDSU, doubt he would have committed if he felt the coaches were doing things that didn’t sit well with him.

Bro, you're looking small picture and not even taking in what I said-read the question again.

NDSU made their offer on Thursday at their in-home visit and asked him to not publicly announce it, which he didn't. He announced every other offer and PWO opportunity but didn't say a word about his NDSU offer when he got it. Makes it pretty hard to pretend that it isn't a very likely scenario (for the record, it actually happened but we can still talk in hypotheticals).

Seems like one of two things (or a combination of them):
1) NDSU was still deciding what to do with the QB from Florida that had just visited and told him an offer might be coming (confirmed by the kid). He also had other offers, so another QB announcing an offer from NDSU could throw a wrench into keeping him on the line, holding out and waiting.
2)They knew UND had offered him and weren't sure which was he was leaning. If the his offer never gets made public, plausible deniability that UND beat them out on him or at least can claim it was never anything more than the previous PWO.

And you see this as shady?

Again, if the player felt he was getting kicked around and not communicated to, why would he accept the offer?

This is such a common practice it’s not even worth bringing up.

“Hey, we like you and another guy, he’s slightly higher on our list and we are extending you an offer contingent on him turning us down, we’ve given him until this weekend and then the scholarship offer is withdrawn and it’s yours, if that works for you”

If you think conversations like that aren’t happening every single day in DI recruiting, then I’m not sure what to say.

Once again, you are missing the deception.  There was no contingency in the offer to Graetz.  It was a bonafide 100% offer and he was taking it. The Florida kid was lied to about his future and brought up to Fargo for no reason two days later.  The Florida kid never got offered and was pissed off that they completely wasted his time.

NDSU reactively wanted Graetz because of UND's offer.  Hence, the "don't tell anyone we offered you" request. Classy start to the Entz regime.

Official visits don’t always end in an offer.

You are 100% in the know on every communication that happened with the Florida kid? It just seems like you are making logic leaps based on whatever “insider” information you believe you have and always spinning it in the worst possible way in regards to how NDSU acted.

So much BS it's hard to know where to start.  First off some info:  Mr Graetz has had a 2 year relationship with him and he's been to 2 camps.  He was our number 2 qb on the board.  The FL kid, coaches have been talking to for months.  You guys had a 2 week relationship and didn't know about the FL kid but for following any recruit that NDSU is interested in.  When the FL kid came up he and his family were told that he was number 3 and if Graetz didn't commit he was next in line.  They were fine with that and appreciated the honesty.  Kid was sold on NDSU and if Graetz wouldn't have committed he would have.    Guess what happened after last weekend, FL kid gets called by you know who.  Guess it didn't go so well.  LOL

LOFL. Is that the spin you guys concocted?

Once again Dan - why did they tell Graetz not tell anybody about the offer?  Just please answer the question.

A rather interesting timeline above.

I'll tell you when you tell me why danny told Graetz he would be a 4 game starter next year and guaranteed the next 4 years as a starter?

How would I know why Freund would say that. Who gives a sh*t, really.  Maybe he would have been a 4 years starter if he is as good as advertised.

Go......

You mean see the best in and give the benefit of the doubt to the people we cheer for and donate time/energy/money to?

You just described every college football fan in the country.
