Herald editorial on Kennedy.  Surprisingly balanced given their prior coverage.

Similar to another President, it seems that no matter what good Kennedy does, if people dislike him all that doesn't matter.  I am not saying Kennedy is perfect by any means.  He has his faults.  We all do.  But Kennedy has likely done more good for the long term stability of UND in the 2+ years he has been here than Kelley did in his Tenure.  When Kennedy's time at UND is done, people will find reasons to dislike and criticize the next President.

Hopefully next time it'll go back to the norm and just be some of us common folk and not one of the countries richest philanthropists.

"And we do see bright spots at UND, most notably Kennedy's sweeping strategic plan and his work to secure research dollars for UND and NDSU."

Shouldn't this be more like in cooperation with President B, or is President K soliciting some of the research dollars on his own for both U's? If for both, that should get Mark good marks with SBoHE.

K and B have a traveling road show together around the State and region promoting research.

NDSU receives $30 million donation for college of business. Program still going on. NDSU alumni want UND to keep Kennedy because they feel he is incompetent.

Is it to pay off the bond they took out to build Barry Hall when it was supposed to be built with donations initially or what is the money for?

Cliff Notes?

Endows 15 faculty and provides for new graduate fellowships.  $10 million from the Challeys (ndsu alum), additional funding from the Koch bros and others.  $30 million total raised with a goal of $50 million.

The nice thing is people forget about those pesky details after a couple years and everyone moves on like it never happened. Similar to a locker room renovation that had the shortfall bonded due to a shortfall on donations that is still being paid off despite them being renovated again since then.

Getting our butts kicked in fundraising ugh

Pretty far from the truth, particularly as UND is still in the shadow on the $324 million Spirit campaign and multiple other sizeable donations but maybe the %gobc need to pull their wallets out if there is a big issue. Or are they more of an "all hat, no cattle" kind of group?

The Koch Brothers giving is the most interesting.  Koch does not have a direct interest in ND to my knowledge, and their gifts often grease the skids so to speak, as Sanford gifts grease skids too.

Koch is heavily involved in petrol and chemicals.
