SiouxVolley Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Could Augie get a berth in the MVFC as ESPN991 assumes? http://espn991.com/augustana-university-to-make-the-jump-to-division-i/ That would take the MVFC to 12. Murray St was the oresumed #12, but they haven’t got an invite yet. Quote

UND1983 Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 The Summit League sucks big balls this year. OOC results are bad. Quote
AJS Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 I love it, the more league teams within driving distance the better. 2 Quote
zonadub Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 If the end result of this is Summt football, then it becomes slightly more palatable. However, do not believe that Douple is forward-thinking enough to take the Summit in that direction. It will have to fall on the Presidents and Athletic Directors. If this does run off the non I-29 schools, it just reinforces the paradigm that the Summit is a stepping stone league that is not a stable conference. More move-ups are becoming more scarce. Who would be next? Mankato? Duluth? Pittsburg? If they bring stability, it might, repeat might, be a positive. still mourn leaving the Big Sky. Quote
Goon Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 My question, is Auggie joining the Summit a bad thing? I am interested in knowing what others think? I know that the DU fans don't like it. If they have the funding and the support, why not? Quote
SWSiouxMN Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 So in 19-20, they will stay in the NSIC Goal is to get Summit Invite by Dec 2020 Quote
Goon Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Apparently, the fans aren't really behind this move. Check out the twitter responses. Quote

I think its sad that the Argus is now reporting on how Twitter is reacting. As if that is some kind of "pulse of the nation" instead of a vocal minority of a subset of people on twitter that chose to respond to a tweet. Not all of those responses were from Augie fans. It would be like polling Bisonville on whether UND going D-1 was a good idea. I'd be curious what a poll of augie alumni or students would say. 2 Quote

SiouxVolley Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Josh Morton is interviewed by Midco: He states either MVFC or Pioneer. Sanford is a big part of this, as he allude to big changes on the academic side. Will Sanford create an Augustana Med School? Or buy out USF. When Morton was hired, something big was going to happen there. 1 Quote

Hockey and lacrosse are almost irrelevant on conference decisions. Denver has made it know in the past that it wants the West Coast Conference, but they don’t want them because DU doesn’t create new basketball revenue, yet. Quote

Also, I am not sure why UNO thinks they've all of a sudden gained some sort of elite status? Quote
