OMG how hard is this for you to understand. 0.0% OF THE TICKET REVENUE LEAVES UND! The ENGELSTAD foundation is generously donating money that WAS NOT GENERATED BY UND ATHLETICS!!!!!! or ever associated with teh Ralph Engelstad Arena!! This has been explained and proven numerous times on here and sheeple just jeep returning to trying to push a narative of money being misdirected by some "evil" organization. Pathetic. 4 Quote

So if the REA foundation is so generous with their money, why not just say we will take a reasonable percentage of ticket revenue from events held at REA or The Betty, maybe 25%, and not any from football. If they can't recover operating expenses from that ticket revenue, parking and concessions revenue, plus other Non-UND events, that is ok, That would be just an additional donation? 1 Quote

That is a reasonable question. Maybe one of the insiders in the know here can explain the concept. There are a lot of layers with their fingers into this and some individuals serve on multiple boards concerning this. Quote

Because they wanted the arena so badly they would have agreed to anything. Now they need The Ralph and The Betty so badly they have to agree to anything the REA puts in front of them. Hockey, volleyball and mens and womens basketball would be without a home without them. UND has ZERO bargaining power and the REA is taking full advantage, But don't worry, I am sure the REA will use some of that FB ticket revenue to put in a new hot tub in the mens hockey locker room. Maybe even put one in Berry's office. 2 Quote

I wouldn't have pegged the Engelstads as re-distributionists, but that is what they are doing. They want to collect most of the athletic revenue at UND and then donate the extra revenue, after all of their expenses are covered, back to UND so they can earmark it for the hockey program, Genius. 2 4 Quote

But you are right, they both need each other. 1 Quote

UND should collect all of the FB ticket revenue and pay the Alerus rent fro the days they have games there. But it sounds like UND administrators really wanted the $100 million arena "gift" that they were willing to give the REA anything they wanted. They will continue to struggle funding sports other than mens hockey until the ridiculous ticket revenue agreement expires. No venue should be entitled to that much of the ticket revenue even if they are hosting the event. We need a button to click to show that we like that someone actually liked this post. Quote
