Kid made a couple of mistakes. Quinipiac band did play the war drum beat associated with Native  Americans. He also doesn't know the difference between a mascot/logo/name. This guy is irrelevant.  More important things to write about. For those of you who seem to struggle with which name, the hockey team settled that issue.  Just call them National Champs.

I guess I will never understand the complex NDSU has with UND. When NDSU wins a championship I think about it for all of 5 minutes and my day goes on. Apparently these people go into full blown baby mode when we win. We all should just be flattered and not respond, really its quite funny.

This is the part that I don't understand. I have a bunch of NDSU friends and they always say the same thing "We cheer for your hockey team, so you should cheer for our football team". They don't quite understand that there is a difference. NDSU does not have a hockey team to cheer for, while we have a football team to cheer for that competes against them. Haven't missed a home football game since the opening of the Alerus and don't plan on starting.

Agreed.  I didn't even realize that NDSU was in the championship again this year until someone posted it on FB.  Of course, I'm a long ways away from that scene.

Lots of friends still in GF (lived there for the first 25 years of my life), but thankfully none of them are NDSU fans (smart group of friends) so they don't post that garbage.

I guess I should make a few clarification to this post.  First and foremost, I am not a UND Grad.  I am a North Dakotan born and raised.  I have friends who are alum from NDSU and UND.  I can understand that they could have hatred for the other based on loyalties.  For the life of me I don't see how there is even a comparison between the 2.  But for one school student to tell the other school that their fan base is an embarrassment is funny.  I know of fans that were in Tampa Bay that were also in Frisco?  IMO it is schools like NDSU with their f the Sioux chants that put UND in the place it was anyway.  I don't know all the derogatory chants between both schools and don't care to know them.  If you can chant things like that and think it is normal, look at yourself in the mirror and you will see the problem.  Parts of the fan chants that I love are the full strength chants and beer song.

I know we have a FB team, but we didn't make the post season, so I'm glad a Nodak team won. The reality is, our FB team has a long way to go to get to the caliber of NDSU, IMO.

UND may never win 5 titles in a row so it is not fair to compare anyone to that run. NDSU success will drop down eventually and UND is getting better every years as they should have made the playoff last year. It will be coming in short order where the state has two successful programs for the residents to cheer for .

Quinnipiac isn't a big boy of college hockey. I'll accept that. But they were a worthy opponent as they earned a spot in the title game by knocking off Boston College. 

And, I still see Michigan and Denver left in the debris on the path to UND's number eight; ...

And Boston College on the path to seven; Boston University on the way to six; Michigan State on the way to five; Wisconsin on the way to four*; Boston College and Denver on the the way to two; Michigan State on the path to the first. 

 

*UND got the "easy path" to number three as they only had to beat Ivy Leaguer Dartmouth and Northern Michigan along the way.

Eh it comes up maybe 1 or 2 times a year at the Ralph when the students see someone with a NDSU shirt on shown on the screen, normally doesn't last that long though. Alot more of Gopher Rejects chants toward the Minnesota teams.

 

There are so many things that could be brought up against NDSU that it is laughable. Neither fanbase is perfect, but I do agree that Minnesota and NDSU fans contributed alot to some Natives taking offense to chants that they hear such as Sioux sucks Sh*t which I have heard through the TV on broadcasts before.
