Haha, that whole article just reads like sour grapes.

How long ago was QU the Braves?  I knew that was their former nickname (so the author lost the bet there!), but I am not sure how long since they switched to the Bobcats.  But I can guarantee you that it wasn't just within the last two years like the Sioux to Hawks transition.  These things take time, especially for a school with such a large tradition built behind that nickname.

Ha! There are those of us from my hometown that aren't over our high school's switch from Mohawks to Thunderhawks! I'm 33 now and we switched when I was 10. People who write these kind of articles that have no connection to the issue astound me because they just have not been in the shoes of those that have been through this kind of change and have no idea how long it takes for schools to successfully make a transition. And there are those who will never move completely past it too. I met a lot of people in Oxford,Ohio at the Miami series that were still upset about their change and they changed a while ago also.

Yes, some people accepted the new nickname the day it was announced, and others will never ever refer to UND as the Fighting Hawks.  And everyone else fits somewhere in between.  Of course it will take awhile for most to adjust to the new nickname.  But really he does bring up a good point.  Yelling "Go Sioux" when our nickname is the Fighting Hawks, from an outsider, does seem strange.  I get it during the so called" cooling off" period when we had no nickname to continue to refer to the teams as the Sioux.  But now that we have a new nickname, we have to all at least try to adjust to the new name.  I am not saying you have to burn all your Sioux apparel and buy hundreds of dollars of new Fighting Hawks apparel.  Everyone can move at their own pace.  But when you are ready to make that transition, the first step might be just to refer to the team by their actual nickname.  It's really not as bad as you think.

We dont have a logo. Pretty tough to support our new name when there is nothing to reference. The name was changed this year, it will take some time and that writer is just pissed that NDSu isn't the only show in the state.

Definition of Tribe: a social division in a traditional society consisting of families or communities linked by social, economic, religious, or blood ties, with a common culture and dialect, typically having a recognized leader.

UND doesn't have a mascot either.

So, UND fans yelling Sioux at a sporting event embarrasses state more than NDSU Bison Athletes stealing from a local best buy or their students' voter registration fraud scandal.

I think the pornography arrests at UND are much worse that the fans yelling Sioux.

Really buddy? I'm pretty sure our fans don't yell "Bison suck s**t" when we score. Maybe some day we can grow up to be just like the exemplary roles models to the South. I'd like to see what would happen at NDSU if they took the Bison name away and they ended up with a crappy name that many people hate......

Wow good to see Ag Tech fans glued to the TV for a division 1 championship. As far as I'm concerned they could win infinite amount of div 1AA championships and I wouldn't miss a wink the only stage worth watching in bisonville is at the Northern.

Funny, but you are going to catch a load of crap for that 1AA nonsense.

Or climbing a UND building and vandalizing it, or exposing yourself to children at a mall, or starting a fight in an alley...

That police officer and the professor are going to jail for a long time.

No doubt.  Always surprised by how many active cases there are regarding this.  Rarely hear about them because few go to trial... Directly to guilty pleas because of the damning evidence... And justly so.
