if we played them today would we beat them

That's the criteria for whether a program is good or not? Albany went 3-8 last season. One common opponent on our schedules.

SDSU 59-0 Albany

SDSU 42-21 UND

So, one good season makes a team a "good FCS program". Check out their record the year before. I know you're not known for intelligence on this site, but this is a new low lol.

I'd be curious which 5 those are. And then how recently a sinking ship has beaten each of those.

I went ahead and did the research for him.

SDSU 2021

NDSU 2023

Montana State 2019 (Last played game)

Montana 2018 (Last played game)

....Albany....

Albany won more playoff games in 2023 than UND has in its entire D1 existence….

So you agree they should be in the same category as NDSU and SDSU?

This comment also has nothing to do with the conversation. Nobody is arguing that UND is a top 5 program.

This is actually hilarious.
Albany a top 5 program? The team with 2 winning seasons in the last 5 years who has a record of 50-61 over the last 10 years?
Take out an very solid, above average season in a second-tier conference (where they still lost to SDSU 59-0) and they had 39 wins the previous 8.5 years (adjusting to 1/2 season for covid).

The other thing that is ironically funny is that the team someone proclaimed a top 5 program has had the same coach since 2014. They haven't fired the coach who has won 4 games or less in 5 of 9 seasons (6 of 10 if you count their 1-3 showing during the spring covid season).

This has to be some sort of bit.

One person throws out Danny's name at random and it become a discussion thread?  Okay I'll say it's Todd Monken.

You were saying? Looks like I nailed it.

"DeBoer said his new staff will have a “touch of Washington.” His offense was led by Ryan Grubb, who has been rumored to be a candidate to take over at UW. DeBoer also retained linebackers coach William Inge, safeties coach Chuck Morrell, special teams coordinator Eric Schmidt, and cornerbacks coach Julius Brown from either Sioux Falls or Fresno State, DeBoer’s two prior head coaching stops."

Anything think Schmidt jumped ship to quickly?

he could be a coach on bama

DeBoer really likes him as a ST coordinator.   he is currently San Diego State new defense coordinator.  Tough to turn down Bama.

It’s going down. Find the damn lifeboat.

Not sure it’s going down but the boat is adrift and going nowhere.

Yes just rumored from Alabama paper that Eric will join DeBoer.  The ST coordinator at Alabama left so an opening is available.

(Joking) Wouldn't it be ironic if UND "Got Alabama" before Moo U. Of course we would get boat raced but the check would be nice and so would the road trip.

Check would be nice, but they get nice checks every year and fail to put it to good use (keeping/extending hopeless Bubba, fail to raise coaches salary pool, etc.). UND football is lost …

As for Alabama, if you want to see them play, just go down for any upcoming game. No need to see UND get destroyed in order to do it.
With all that, I see and get the joke in all of this (Moo U - we want ‘Bama).
