Stopped drinking soda also. Anytime a new restaurant comes to town, I need to give it a try or two though.
SiouxVolley
We can dream, right?Fast casual pizza is the new thing now. Places like Maddios, Blaze, Pie Five, Pizza Rev (owned by Buffalo Wild Wings) have a Chipotle style lineup with a choice of crust, sauce, and 28 or so toppings, with a pizza baked in a conveyor oven for $6.99, ready in five minutes or less. But then again, GF doesn't have a Chipotle yet. Fast Casual places are killing fast food. Most Fast Casuals serve organic and no sugar. Chipotle doesn't serve pork in some of their store because they can't get enough raised humanely without antibiotics.
tnt
To be honest, I have drastically cut back on my fast food consumption; it's amazing how bad it is for you. Was wondering if they thought that was a problem because their radio commercials said "We hear you Grand Forks, some times a big burrito is too much", or something to that effect, trying to get people in with the smaller burrito. Can't eat that food often and maintain weight, unless you are in high school or college, which you think would have been their main business. SiouxVolley
Not to worry. We have the FDA to keep us safe. There has been an incredible rise is the occurrence of NASH, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, in Americans in the past several decades. Biotech compamies are racing to find a treatment for this condition. It basically having fat deposits in your liver causing cirrhosis to form, and drinking soda or pop with high fructose sweeteners are believed to be a big factor. An estimated 50% of NDSU fans suffer from this disease, as reported by Frisco observers who were asking how a fan base could be so grossly obese. Symptoms are metabolic disease, high blood pressure, type II diabetes or borderline, and general malaise and lethargy.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-alcoholic_fatty_liver_disease

homer
I disagree! The menu got expanded outside what they are good at. They are not a specialty burger/sandwich joint. Fast food that is consistent from location to location is what McDonalds was set up to be. When the menu gets too big, service is the first thing that suffers. Margins also suffer as space to store more items increases.

But the point was more competition and a shifting demographic and rise of the fast casual restaurants. Smashburger, qdoba, Five Guys. Etc
bison73
I tried this place a couple times. I don't know who managed the store but service was horrible. I ate at the one in Fargo and the food was just bad. Not to mention that the customer service specialist were really freaking wierd.

I believe that mcd's and alike are suffering because their food is garbage and people are better informed about how this food is killing us! They can change their size of their menu all they want, won't change a thing until they serve real food! It will not get any better for them until that change happens. Can't wait for more places to start serving real food, it will be better for everyone!

Qdoba, Panera, Chipotle, Five Guys, Noodle etc have, but some of the major players haven't yet: Fazolis, McAlisters Deli, Jason's Deli, Zoe's Kitchen, El Pollo Loco, Pie Five etc are all seeing fast growth.http://www.fastcasual.com/topics/top-100/

SiouxVolley
Soda/Sugar is the new cigarettes. Starting in the 80s, a low fat phenomena hit the streets where fat was removed and sugar added instead. Obesity and fatty liver deseases have skyrocketed since. Fatty Acids are essential to health, as their critical to cell membranes, but most food manufacturers keep putting in more sugar and keep extolling a low fat diet. One can live in perfect health without sugar or grains, with just protein, vegetables, and essential fats.http://www.prohealth.com/library/showarticle.cfm?libid=7564
bigskyvikes
Soda/Sugar is the new cigarettes. It is...remember though, that is 'added' sugar, not sugar in fruits and milk that are there naturally. Also flour is on that bad for you list! Amazing what eliminating these two items do to your health! Added sugar isn't just in candy, ice cream, and pop, that's why you need to read the labels. Shop the perimeter of your favorite grocery stores, everything in the middle is added sugar!

You would think that the FDA would put on labels how much "added" sugar are in foods and how much we should have in our diet, they have that for everything else except sugar and they lump natural and added sugar together when added is bad and natural is good. I don't have a link, but I did see on the morning news show a few weeks ago that there has been discussion (mainly by health care providers...not FDA) on the need to indicate added sugar on food labels.
