SWSiouxMN Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, Houston considered top candidates for Big 12 expansion, sources confirm (espn.com) All of these schools make sense for the Big 12. That would make 3 openings in the AAC.... The plot thickens and if you are Boise right now.... you might be a little nervous Quote

SIOUXFAN97 Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 so byu, houston, cincy, and ucf to the big 12....where does aac backfill from here? Quote
SIOUXFAN97 Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 and hasn't there been an open invite to byu from the big12 when they had ok and tx? why go now (if they do) Quote

That will be a good question as the AAC will take a significant hit with these 3 school leaving in all sports. BYU brings a following and does take some sting out of TX/OK leaving. What's left of the AAC right now would be: Tulsa, Memphis, Navy, SMU, Temple, Tulane, ECU, USF, and Tulsa. 1 Quote

I wonder if they offer army and uconn as football associates similar to Navy. Then they only need to add 1 all sports school to get to 12. Or they add just 1 associate football school and stick with 10 teams. Not sure any Sun Belt team really moves the needle finance wise. Wichita State restarting football is also an option. 1 Quote
nodak651 Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 looks like utrgv is likely going to be the last WAC school. Matt Brown discussed it, and basically if the students pass a new student fee, they will start up an FCS program. The AAC is pretty lame without the teams that have left. The MWC teams being considered are Colorado St, Boise, Air Force, San Diego St. if those teams left it would open the door to Big Sky and MVFC teams to backfill. I just don’t see that many teams wanting to leave from the MWC…… Quote

Yote 53 Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 Why would any of the MWC schools leave for what constitutes the AAC now? The MWC is the better conference now and it is geographically tighter which saves a lot of travel costs and is much easier on the student-athletes in the non-football sports. The AAC TV contract is going to get renegotiated and cut so the money would not be worth it. The AAC should be looking at Sun Belt schools like Louisiana (ULL) and Coastal Carolina or CUSA schools like LaTech, Marshall, or UAB. Keep it on the eastern side of the US. 1 Quote

I assume that you are saying jumping from MWC to Big 12 versus AAC. Does SDSU and BSU view themselves as options for Pac12 if they loose schools? Quote
