They certainly earned their paychecks this summer.

This is part of recruiting the right kids. You end up losing some and have to battle for all of them.

congratulations on the win! Barber is really good. I watched the match and looked through the stats, and really, both teams played relatively well. I don't know what was happening in your non-conference games, but that didn't look like a 280-ranked team yesterday. I'll say that there were times when there was maybe some bad passing, communication issues and out-of-system play from the Hawks, but when in-system they looked as good as anyone in the conference IMHO. So if consistency is the problem, I would assume you will improve that through the season. Maybe will have some up days and down days. I wonder if there were some issues with USD's blocking schemes that Coach Tupac was exploiting? Barber hit .333 on the match, so we couldn't really contain her very well at the net. IDK, I'm no expert. Also, good on you for having over 800 attendance and a full pep band for a team with a losing record. You won't see that in very many places. Good luck on the season

I'm just hoping that ASU takes care of business against them this weekend. A decent showing against PSU would help out the league in the NPI at end of season, as you know PSU will feast on the cupcakes and have a good record the rest of the way.

Conference opener! UND and Coach Schmidt’s squad open conference play in Cedar Falls, Iowa on October 4th, 2025 at 4 pm. Watch on ESPN+ or listen via Fighting Hawks Radio Network. Time for UND’s first road win of the season. Northern Iowa is 2-2 to start the season. Northern Iowa is 2-0 at home, beating Butler and Eastern Washington at home to start the year, and is 0-2 on the road versus Wyoming and most recently Utah Tech. Northern Iowa is also led by a new coach this year (former Drake head coach), Todd Stepsis. CHN Ranks UND's recruiting class as #2 in the nation behind just MSU. They also have Verhoeff at #3 and Zellers at #5 in their top 10 freshmen list as well. Can't believe Reschny didn't make that list too...especially over someone like Ryder Ritchie...Reschny put up 30+ more points in the WHL last season than Ritchie, and is also a year younger. Ha ha ha........I know in my head there are lots of programs in the expanded Big 10 far better than Minnesota and just happened to come across the ESPN Rankings having them at 14. In football, teams tend to play better and win games at home if you haven't been following along the past 100 years. I'm glad you know the Ins and Outs of the Gopher football Roster. I am a UND Football Fan.

I think the Non-Conference schedule that last 2 years has been about right. FBS Money game-We need the Money Cup Cake-Easy Win Perennial power-Good Test and Fan Interest Lower Tier Big Sky Team-Easy Win that looks like as Good Win. We are either good enough for the payoffs or not.

Will be interesting to see how Schmidt gets the guys ready for what could be a very underwhelming road environment. The first two road games were in packed stadiums. It was nice to see our guys step up in those big moments. Sure they failed down the stretch in each, but they showed more than they ever did under Bubba. Now I need to see them generate their own juice and pound a struggling program.

This game is huge. Need to get the 1st road win of the year and 1st since 2023. If this is not a win, it could be the same old same old on the road. We have played 2 good games on the road, but come up short on both of them. This needs to be a win if we are going to make a splash this year.

That's for sure. USD was hot garbage today and those that said they were overrated were right. We should have no trouble winning if we play a good solid game. I would expect us by 10 to 14 points. I am however more worried about playing NDSU. Cole Payton has a good arm and better legs. He looked like the real deal unfortunately.

Hak was already a legend in my book personally. Seeing him help support the program in the ways he has these past few months since March has been awesome. There's only a small amount that gets reported about but seems like he's been willing to support the new staff alot.

The program has a bit of a hop to its step heading into the season, I like that. I'm anxious to see how they come out on Saturday. I think it was Matt Greene who said it doesn't matter what game we are playing in at North Dakota, its a big game. I hope they take that approach and score three in the first period. Yeah, get everybody out there and going, but I'd like to see some desperation, albeit in an exhibition game.

Agreed. If Berry would have been retained for another season, I'm guessing the roster would look quite a bit different right now. And not in a good way.

UNI appears to be a below average MVFC team. Like that they have them on the road to start off conference play. Keep things on schedule for this new era. Would like to see a two-score win.

I haven’t yet seen an NCHC prediction on this board for 2025-26, so here goes: 1 North Dakota 2 Western Michigan 3 Denver 4 Arizona State 5 Colorado College 6 Minnesota Duluth 7 Omaha 8 St. Cloud State 9 Miami ND may struggle early with scoring as lines are shuffled around but defense will be strong, with it all coming together in second half. Only question at this point is goaltending.

Hard to get excited about any recruit when Sather likely won’t be the coach after this year.

The quotes from Jackson and Chyzyk about not wanting to essentially put a bandaid on the program for a year when rebuilding the roster were what stuck out when reading this, because in my mind, that’s probably exactly what Berry would have done - because it’s what has been going on for a while. They are thinking long term, not short term.

I think the implication is that this player is good enough to be on the radar of a Big Ten team.

Also the connections are made so if athlete enters portal they may be more inclined to go to school that recruited them.
